Hi, i am having a perplexing problem with yahoo's webcam feature.

I'm on mac, trying to connect to someone on windows xp. My webcam is working fine, he sees me no problem. And his seems to be working fine as well, as he has no problems connecting to other windows users. But when i try and view his webcam, i get the error message "this user does not have his webcam online."

i have tried both OS X and OS 9 with the same result, latest version of messenger on both.

Might anyone have any thoughts about this? Thank you!

Darcy

Yahoo messenger for Mac doesn't support video chat with Windows (and vice versa). Use AOL Instant Messenger on your end, and iChat on his.

That's good to know.

Yahoo Messenger supports video chat between windows and mac. It's very frustrating to not have it working the way they say it should. Ah well I guess we must have patience, the industry will get it together eventually. The technology is still pretty young. Darcy

If it can video chat between platforms, it's a very recent addition.

I could have sworn my father in-law does it.

I'm on Mac and can only cam via Yahoo to Windows if I log onto a virtual VMSware windows inside of the Mac. The virtual windows allows me to cam.

I should have mentioned - I don't use the built in Apple cam, I use a third party usb cam
