Hi,
I have a domain name which I can access and can be found when I'm surfing at the public library.
However, when I come home, it says that the page cannot be found. I went on an anonymous proxy surfing site and tried to access the website, and it worked perfectly fine. Yet when I go back and use my original browser, it doesn't work.
does anybody know what the cause of this is? thanks

Possibly the DNS information for the domain hasn't propagated to your home computer yet. If this is the case, give it a couple of days and it should work fine.

Two other possibilities include your computer having cached DNS info and your
ISP not having refreshed their DNS cache as well. The former you can flush,
the latter you'll have to wait.

I dunno, I've been waiting for almost a day and a half now for the dns change to take place... they say that it could take 24 to 48 hours (godaddy)

One reason registrar support give that answer is because they don't want any
person blaming them later on like, "you lied to me!" if it doesnt happen. This is
because no single party has full control over how soon a domain name is going
to resolve to its website or so.

it works now, I think Dave was right that that my ISP had not refreshed the DNS cache or whatever
