View Full Version : How to make something like the changing Adsense in this forum?

I think I asked this question before, but didn't really an answer.

My thinking is that the adsense ads belongs on a seperate .php page. Then has some complex javascript using random declarations to produce the different coloured/different images in the top right corner.

Can anyone help me out? I'd be willing to pay/exchange for any tips you might find useful from me?

Thanks

From the Adsense page where you set up your ads:

"Select a color palette for your ads. Hold down the Control or Command key to select multiple palettes that will rotate randomly on your web page. "

So, google has this feature built-in. Thanks guyfromchicago, I'd never noticed that.

Yea, it's kind of handy. I use the color rotation in my sports forum too.

Some pretty grusome colour clashes though... I don't think I've ever clicked on an adsense ad from this forum

actually Thinkbling that's not exactly true. I spoke about this in the Google Adsense forum and they recommended certain colours that stand out and get click on most...I'll be following Shaun's example, he's rich haha...

99.9% of the time I would agree with you, but this hasn't been the case in my sports forum. Performance has been MUCH better since I made the switch.

It's the only place it works for me though...everywhere else I blend the ads to the best of my ability.

two notes

first, everyone I've talked to has said that they get the best results with inline ads that blend in. have a white background and black text on your site? make adsense borderless with a white background and black text, and stick it right in the middle/top of the content.

second, I actually use a php script to do rotating adsense banners- this way you can track the CTR of each color. I can post it later if people are interested
