Hello,

I need to buy about 5 .com domains. I know there are some promotions going on from time to time, coupons flying ect.. So can someone recommend where to buy the domains? From what I've read around I'm thinking about: godaddy, domainsite, mydomain and namecheap. Are they good? Price is a priority for me, including the renewal price, the complexity of the panel and support are not important to me. So.. any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks up in front

I recommend GoDaddy or Namecheap. Look for a namecheap coupon for July,if there is one.

Try www.livedomain.eu $ 6.95

Thanks for your replies guys. Here are the calculations I made after doing a little sniffing around :) :

namecheap.com:

$8.88
- $0.90 (July Coupon Code: BOTTLEROCKET - $0.90 off on new registrations and transfer.)
= $7.98

(that is with free whois guard, godaddy doesn't include that in the price mentioned here)

godaddy.com:

$9.15
-$2 (Coupon code: OYH3 - 2$ off on .coms)
=$7.15

livedomain.eu

$7.15

couldn't find any coupon for livedomain, but the price is the same as godaddys, and what is with the design, uses even the same template as godaddy

mydomain.com

$8.47
(Coupon code: 7domain - This coupon is good for one $7 domain per account, per order, per person.)
$6.97

This coupon doesn't help me because it applies only to one .com, other domains in your cart will be $8.47

Well if there aren't any other promotion codes or so, I guess the winner is livedomain.eu! Congratilations ! :D

Thanks for your help guys, if someone happens to know a cheaper price than that for a com(at a decent registrar that is) please share it with us. I'm going for a little shopping now..

www.DomainSite.com has $6.99 domains for the first year - then $7.99.

Yes, and they provide whois protection for only $0.50, anyone what is their downside in comparison to the ones mentioned in this thread? $6.99?? There's gotta be something.. whats the catch?

I'm glad I didn't make the purchase yet, thanks tobycoke!

Domainsite's basic $6.99 first year offer does not include email or domain forwarding or DNS management (you can change nameservers but not A,MX or CNAMES). Its $7.99 to include those features.

I bought 3 domains at domainsite, and my impressions so far are good. A,MX and CNAME are of no use to me, so domainsite is the best deal I could find. Thank you for mentioning it tobycoke, rep++

Best solution is godaddy with coupon code. It will be 7.15*5 = 35,75 also Godaddy give free whois protection when you register more than 3 same time.

The cheapest is not always the best, you should look for a reliable registrar. You mentioned godaddy, domainsite, mydomain and namecheap, they are all reputable companies. If you're looking for cheap, you can usually get .com domains @ Godaddy for around $6.95 plus 20 cent ICANN fee with coupons

mirturk you should have mentioned that earlier, I have already made the purchase at domainsite :( Not that a dollar or two could have saved my life, but godaddy was kinda more attractive to me in the first place. Thanks for the info anyway, now I will know for my next purchase, and I'm sure someone else would find it useful

I've read around about these guys, there were some guys complaining a little bit about their support and control panel not working properly, but I didn't find any shocking complain about them(fee for transferring the domain to a different registrar or not allowed change of dns..) except for the renewal price($9.99) which is a bit higher than the standard for .com. But one can always transfer the domain to godaddy or elsewhere after the first year so..

Yes, actually when I said a decent registrar I was referring to just that.Reliable, kind enough to allow dns change, low renewal price, free and easy domain transfer and free or cheap whois protection if possible. Thats why I mentioned godaddy namecheap and alike.. From now on, I will be referring to these kind of domain sellers as: "cheap enough" - they are pretty cheap, and offer fair enough services(for a site builder like me that is). :)

l recommend yahoo but less dns service.

I guess Yahoo are kind of alike to domainsarefree. Very cheap, everything a sitebuilder would need, but a high renewal price, which is not that big of a problem since the transfer of the domain to a different registrar after one year is free so I think we can look through that and qualify them as "one year cheap enough" :) .

*my comments about these companies are not from personal experience, but from reads I could find through the forum, so don't blame me if anything said is not quite correct and please feel free to correct/add anything about these statements of mine
