I want to buy a domain but the .COM is already taken.
Do you thing that the .ORG is a good choice or it's better to find another name for a .COM
I know that dotcom domains are ranked higher that the others,
and the .org domain is good for a non profit organization, but I saw the open-site.org and I'm not sure now.
So what should I do ?

If you have to get that particular name & the .com is taken, the 2nd choice should always be a .net IMO as it's a lot more popular than the .org extention. If you aren't that attached to that name, then find another one in the .com extention as .com is the best extention out there

thanks htmlindex, I think I will do that.
I always bought .com domains, if you had told me that .org domain is just as good as .com, I would have bought a.org , but now I'm convinced, thanks again :)

If you can find a .net, that would be my second choice.
1. .com
2. .net
3. .org

Not true at all. Google doesn't take extension into account. If I can't register a good .com, I usually go with hyphenated .com or .info

That's right, it doesn't matter what extention the domain is, Google treats them equally.
