View Full Version : Percent google takes per click

Hopefully discussing this isn't against the TOS, but I was wondering if anyone has taken a look at how much google earns per click and what they give back to the adsense partners. I know on the minimum bided keywords it seems like a min of .03 is paid out. That comes out to a 60% share for publishers and 40% for G. Does that seem like a static comparison or do you guys think that it changes per keyword, or keyword bid.

they have given out stats about the overall network, and it wasn't anywhere near 40% that they keep themselves if I'm remembering right..

someone figured it out by reading their financial statement. It used to be 15%, now it's 30%.

Lowest bid for one keyword is USD 0.05. And lowest EPC I received is USD 0.01. So google's share is 80% and publisher 20%.

I don't think is is that low. People have gotten 32 dollars a click. Since the maximum bid is $50 that is over 60 percent.

LOL some people only make $.1/day off adsense. But you have to start somewhere.

The payout % is most likely based upon the bid amount. If the bid is 5 cents, you'll probably make a lower % of a nickel, then you would if a bid is about 50 cents or something. Based upon my avg bid on adwords, I figure the payout rate for my site is in the neighborhood of 30% of the bid. Its very hard to tell cuz of the dynamic bidding that google adwords employees.

It seems to me that it depends on.... "who knows", what Google pays per click. Some time it may be that they do pay out 60% +, but other times they pay out much less.
This is all only from my experience. I have a site that clicks somedays pay $3 & $4 other days their only .50 per click. Same keywords, so that ads shouldn't be changing that much.

It may vary based upon time of day, day of week, CTR of the advertisement, CTR of the source page, etc... etc... etc...

Its EPC not my revenue for one day. I still manage to get USD 30-40 a day, so you can imagine with that kind of EPC, how many clicks that I got :)

I always estimated that they got 30% of the total, based on my terrible CTR site.

I think google changes the percent often. It might not be fixed. Just my two cents without any solid proof.

I used to see an absolute minimum of 3c per click, but recently I've seen some 1c clicks.
Also it's possible (and likely IMHO) that Google pays a different percentage depending on the site.

I've seen one set of clicks, more than one, but only resulted in a penny. I'm guessing they were PSA's, since the site was very new.
Anyone see this behavior?

Just test it using adwords and ansense, you can get a good idea by matching the words you want to buy with the words you sell.

Not true. For one of my sites, I average about $.25 per click, but the adwords user is paying $2-3 per click
My other site gets about $.50-1.00 per click, and the adwords user pays $18-25 per click.
That is according to the adwords tool.
I think G takes at least 80%, but that is just my guess from my personal research.
Then again, my clicks on the first site averaged $.80 last week

Google takes 25-30 percent. I know because I have gotten $23 clicks many times and the max bid is $50/click. That is almost 50 percent.

It all depends on saturation of your particular market. For example, how many lawyers are still paying $50 for mesothelioma clicks on content sites? Not many I would imagine.... Even if they are, there are so many mesothelioma sites out there, that the top bidders run through their daily budget quickly, therefore the lower bidding advertisers' ads get shown, and you end up with $.25 clicks for a keyword you THINK is worth $50.
Just because the top bid is $x, that doesn' mean your clicks are going to pay a % of $x.

I got idea how to measure it. Simply make adword for some fictional word, make page for it with adsense ads and click on your own add, then check adsense stats.
Anyone as volunteer?

Due to the smart payout thing that google has, I highly doubt there is any set amount. The amount may differ depending on the cost of the keyword. For those reasons, and others, I doubt they would ever come out and tell publishers the percentage either.

I think there's no fixed share in what google takes. Maybe if you look at it on average you could see a 40% share going to google (which is alot in my opinion)
