View Full Version : .asia is coming!

What are your views on this tld?

Does anyone know how much did LLL.eu rise to during the hype?

.asia seems junk to many but I feel it may be worth something due to a huge potential of internet users as countries such as thailand, myanmar, indonesia, cambodia are getting more and more developed and not leaving out china and india etc.

What do the rest think?

The initial round up that is going to start from Oct. 9, is limited to governments and trademark owners hence there are little chances to get good 3 letters .asia domain name. Overall the demand would be low that I guess.

I already have in mind the domains I want to snap up which will be worth a lot and they aren't 3 chars.

I think you have to have some good programs that can covert the traffic to sales in those countries.

I am sure some names will be good but i do not have anything that will work with alot of the countries they are aimed at.

randerraghav
Jul 5th 2007, 5:01 am
maybe this will aim specially for asians??

I too will have to dabble in the .asia extension. I think that it will be an interesting one to follow and development will be a key component as it always is with the domain names. The days of flipping are still here but flipping with some development and PR is a sure way to add value.

Just some facts;

Landrush for .asia is on feb 2008, details can be found at dotasia.org

Yes it is true anyone can buy .us names, however those who bought them but are not us citizens will have their domains taken back if they are being found out. Also when one gets into legal issues and your whois information shows you do not live in US. Poof! There goes your domain.

Secondly, legally not all countries can buy .asia names, only about 73 countries can if I remember correctly, US is not one of them. Yes you can still buy it, but the same would apply if you are found out by the authorities.

Some people have been saying .asia names are junk due to the ever-increase TLDs being released. However I beg to differ on .asia, my reason is because there are simply 400 mil internet users from asia now while there are only 550 mil internet users in Europe and the westerners countries. This info is verified by an article from dotasia.org

It is also a fact that many countries in Asia are become more and more developed, with this in mind, it is needless to say internet users will continue to boom exponentially even possible to hit above the 1billion mark. Therefore my conclusion is that it is worth a shot. However again, no one can fully predict the future, these are only research that I have done on this extension.

No idea at all on price, there's no way we will know until landrush right?

Geoffrey
Jul 14th 2007, 12:57 am
.asia? Never heard of that before.
Personally I don't think it will catch on, but it might become slightly popular. :)

Asia is so broad with different cultures and languages that having one extension to cover that entire region is silly. I'll consider travel related names, but not much more.

4 letters for a tld is long imo , but LLL.asia will worth something if you can catch but they will be expensive at the beginning like .mobi.

I hope I can register some good .asia domains when that happens. :)

.asia?

Maybe I would be able to get some pretty good domain names there, too (even though I am not asian now) :)

And hopefully, we shall have .africa very soon since it is the second largest continent after asia. There's some cyber sense in that, right?

Don't worry, the domain servers or whatever it is won't be powered manually. We are working on some solar system.

BTW, If you are a solar systems scientist I can arrange to give you a job down there. Got some really big contacts. ;) .

Well, that's a good alternative too, but surely it won't be a fast progress... And hrmmmm... Do I need to be a real scientist? I can read all wikipedia has to offer on solar power and pretend I am! :P
