I installed the code, no problem, but finding keywords that will display related products, is a problem. I had them turn on the contextual mode so I could test things out on my development server. I would get mostly related ads. But then I would go back to k/w mode and the ads would be generic ipod or tv crap. I've tried to get support from them but all I get is:
Our real-time contextual mode is not Google Adsense complient.
Their respons is just garbage. So I don't think I'm going to bother with it any longer. It would be nice, but after reading some of the recent posts, I wonder if it's really worth the effort.

The contextual stuff is working for me (I think), although the results are terrible.

I would leave it contextual if it did not violate the Google TOS... (sigh)

I find it strange that everyone with an affiliate id raved about them being the best thing since sliced bread but in another thread you were hard pressed to find someone who made more then .50 from refferals (therefore the reffered weren't making more then 5.00 total)

I didn't have any luck but then again my sites don't seem to fit the mold. There isn't really anything for Health Sites.

Those with gadgets seem to be doing very well but I can't be bothered to use them anymore. I will give them another chance in a few months however.

My refs are making me at least $ 1 dollar a day, so I don't think it's that bad after all

I guess its a matter of perspective then

I was very impressed with how quickly the ads delivered contextually. I don't know how effective they are for earning money though. I'm test-running this week to see how I get on.

I will be interested in non biased stats from non-gadget sites (as those have been reported to do great by a variety of people)

Im not knocking the system but I am not seeing the same type of returns as Google. I know to some people a $1 a day is a lot but I am more interested in some of the bigger publishers

The scope of products on chitika is VERY narrow, I think. It fits tech sites mainly, but anything else is pretty much out of the loop. I think its weird that you cannot become an advertiser on there - or least not in a way that I can figure out.

The click I got was worth 75 cents, so I'm pretty happy about that one, but cuz there isn't a huge variety of products on there, I don't see whats so special about it.

If you use the keyword "books" or "magazines" or something, next to nothing shows up.

I've seen a pretty broad range of keywords possible... pet products, books, videos, and even health related items. There are plenty of supplements available through Chitika; I tried it out on my site and it served them up fine, but it distracted from my main affiliate links.

Be more specific with your request :)

I am currently trying out Chitika. Have been for about two weeks. My sites are not gadget related in anyway. At first I just slapped up the code at the bottom of my page added my main key word to gadgets and called it good. LOL I was quite surprised with the result(better thn Adsense in the first days) so I did a little more digging and optimising. I took a bit of time to research products in my theme(s) via catalogs ect and the products are there. Sometimes I had to put in the exact title of the product but it was there. And this worked for me. My CTR increased dramatically and a PPC average 6 to 10 times higher than adsense. I have since moved Chitika above the fold. Since adding Chitika I have seen no decrease with Adsense earnings even tho I switched ad positions to place Chitika above the fold and added a new adsense ad mid content(I actually see improvment epcm wise for the new adsense ad go figure). I have not had this result with any other program even with similair products. I am quite happy and am in the proccess of adding Chatika to more pages.

My sites are not gadget related in any way, and they are doing just fine. I never broke $50 with adsense, but chitika alone made me $96 yesterday.

Well, now that I can see channels I can see that I had a click on a health topic that was worth over $1.00 so I have to disagree that it won't work on health sites. The good news is that I had specified that product specifically so I know exactly which ad paid well and I can specify it to show up on other pages... that's something you can't do with Adsense. :D

With all due respect, there isn't a cause and effect relationship there.. I already receive over $1.00 per click so one click at that rate isn't exactly convincing.

However with Channels now working I may give it another try in a few weeks

I realize that. I was simply pointing out that I happened to find at least one health product that pays over $1.00 per click on Chitika. I already make over $1 per click on Adsense too on many topics so I'm not impressed by the $1.00 click, but it is good to know there may be hope for non-gadget sites as far as Chitika goes. So far, though, my CPM is dismal on most pages on which I've installed Chitika. However, my Adsense revenue has not been affected so I will leave them up and keep playing with keywords and see what happens.
