I still new to SEO. I want to ask what is the reasonings behind it. Why will chaning keywords/title hurts SEPR? It seems to me that the change in the body part does not affect rankings too much. I did a change in title/keywords then it went down. Even after I changed it back, it never came back to the top 10 any more.

Because the title is the biggest on-page factor you can have IMO.

the thing is if i change the title from SEO to SEO SEO, it still hurts... so what is the reason for this? it seems once it is changed, google will have to make it to grow the ranking from fresh... ...

Because you aren't searching for SEO SEO I'm assuming.

So are you saying that it is bad to repeat your keyword / keyphrase in the title? i.e. Crochet would be better than Crochet - Crochet?

SEO is natural, SEO SEO is considered spam (repeating keywords)

Hello qll and janetmorn.
>So are you saying that it is bad to repeat your keyword
If you do repeat, it's best if they aren't together. For example,
"the Crochet Nook - Yarn, Patterns, and Crochet Hooks"

Ok, so something like Craft Organizers - Handy Craft Organizers would be ok?
But which one for seo purposes is best. Craft Organizers or Craft Organizers - Handy Craft Organizers?

Don't forget that your page titles will be the titles your searchers see in the SERPs and the way they are written will have an effect on your click thru rate.

Hi Mel. Do you mean the page titles or the page title tags? Unfortunately, all of my pages have the same title tags and I can't do anything about that. My site is a dynamic site and one where I can't control each individual page's title tag.

I am not sure if the actual page title does show up in the serps. I will have to check.

If you don't have control over the content of each pages title tag you should be having some serious discussions with the programmer.

Google thinks so highly of the page title tag that is has "short barrels" which contain only content from the page titles and anchor text tags and this is the first place Google looks when ranking a term.

Yes, so many people have told me that the title tags are very important and although I have told that to my webhost a dozen times, she disagrees. She has told me more than once that I cannot have control over the content of each individual pages title tags and that it is really no big deal.

New web hosts are not hard to find at all.
