All these templates on wordpress have a few links to other sites in their footer. Are there any templates available without this footer?

usually the theme author will put their link in the footer. with this, they can get more backlinks from those who are using his/her theme.

i don't think there is available theme without links in the footer unless you design and code the theme by your own. ;)

You can easily take the links out, but it is kind of etiquette to let the person who designed the theme, get the link love.

If they are sponsored, just look for a different theme. There are hundreds of them.

Search for the themes which are not sponsored. But don't remove the designer's link from the footer. If you have some $$, then you can get one designed for you in template section of BST

I'd say pick one you like an duse it. IF your blog picks up spend 50-200$ and get one custom made. If you are using a template that looks cool and it was free leave the links, the only reason it's free is b/c someone paid to have the links put in so yo coul duse it free. :)

Honestly one or two links in the footer won't really hurt anything. The whole deal with blogging is about linking to other sites, it's not something I'd stress.

There are some designers who offer free templates without any links but there aren't very many to choose from. Sometimes what I do is modify the design and leave the link but just add "modified by Cassie" at the end. Unless there are unnecessary links to a bunch of sites I wouldn't worry about it. In most cases they deserve the recognition.

If you really want and you're feeling ambitious you can check this one (http://www.wpdiva.com/themes/47/ultimate-diva-sandbox.html) out and style it yourself. It doesn't require a link in the footer.

Exactly! What she said. That's what i did with my latest blog.
I searched for over 2 weeks looking for the theme that I liked, and finally found the closest thing.
I think the guy deserves the credit for offering it up for free, and I just put modified "By me" (And I hacked the crap out of it:))at the bottom and added my own links to my stuff.
It's a win/win:D

I design WordPress themes, and I'm sure there are some who have removed the link from the bottom it's bad form to do so. You're using something someone put some time into coding and supporting, so it's only right to give credit where credit is due.

Very true pavaranda.

Some theme creators don't mind if its placed in the sidebar such as Small Potatoes (http://www.wpdesigner.com/).
