Okay here is the thing.

Say www.domain.com is PR4.

But when someone types in www.domain.com they are auto forwareded to www.domain.com/home (and its always been like this, siknce www.domain.com got PR4)

If my link is in www.domain.com/home will get the PR4 credit? or nothing? tool bar shows 0 for the redirected page.

yes it will not get the pr. For example my site www.splaytech.com is a different page according to google then splaytech.com even tho both urls will take you to the same page. so you would have to optimize for the redirected page as well

crap thats stupid, means the link i get from this local newspaper is useless ;p oh well

Couldn't you setup an htaccess file to make /home the start page for your domain?

its not my domain, its a newspaper site that linked to me
