I'm not really surprised by this move, they do have Google Reader, so the whole RSS "mindset" is within Google. It's only going to be a matter of time until the SEC has to chime in with anti-trust laws because Microsoft will whine and complain because they're not doing so well online.

The more stuff they buy, the less likely they will be paying dividends on stock =).

Google has alot of companies but their are private equity firms out their with profolios that make googles look like small change.

I believe the Feedburner acquisition has little to do with an application like Google Reader.
I believe that Google want to: (a) leverage Feeds as an advertising means (Feedburner already has an advertising business on top of feeds) (b) Leverage feeds to bring more traffic to blogs>>increase page views>>Increase Adwords revenue.
