Without violating the TOS -
What should I consider a good CTR? What should I consider to be average?
Basiclly im trying to set some reasonable goals.
Also - is it true that the higher the ctr the higher the payment per click?
Im wondering if I should drop adsense from non/low producing pages to get more $$$ per click on the better producing pages

Hello- Good ctr... that is a tough one to define... From my experiences smaller sites that get 10-20k pageviews per day are VERY SPIKEY in that they can be 5$-85$ cpm!
Sites with more 400-500k/day seem to be steady at 1-2$ per cpm
It all just depends on the market your targeting and what the market for that target is bearing.

I'd kill for a 12$ CPM... :)
as far as CTR, if you have anything much less than 1%, there's probably room for improvement. however, it really depends on the audience, and their viewing habits- almost no forums are going to be getting 1%...

Well - I have some channels that are not producing yet get high impressions - so if I were to remove those channels (or improve them dramatically as they are less then .3%) the overall CTR would climb........
First, I worry about getting CTR up - via ad placement tweaking and what not -
Being a forum - I have a difficult time getting ads with higher paying KWs - Im kinda stuck on the topic at hand.......

I'm assuming it's the site in your sig? are you concerned about the placement for the internal (threads, etc) pages or the main site?

I have some channels that are very high and some that are nearly non producing. SO im trying to improve that. Of course, I dont want to be unrealistic. I cant choose content much being that its a forum, so CTR is all I can improve.
Also, if a higher CTR gets my ads paying better, then it makes sense to eliminate non produing channels.
And yes, its the forum Im concerned with.

Forum CTR is about .4 - 1.1%

well, im within that area, but could increase it dramatically if I pulled the ad's out of the individual threads.

To answer the question on your thread title.. Good CTR is the higher CTR. If you can make your CTR higher it will be better than your previous CTR.
