Hi,

I currently have a domain on HostMonster that I wish to transfer to GoDaddy. My question is whether or not there will be a downtime while the nameservers resolve and whatnot.

Appreciate (+rep) any reply. Thanks!

If you want to transfer your domain & keep hosting, there will be no downtime.
- change registrar

If you want to move your hosting to godaddy, then you need to modify name server & it will need dns propagation. Don't cancel your hosting with hostmonster first, simply change your name server to which provided by godaddy to prevent down time when move hosting. Propagation should be done within max. 72 hours, then only you cancel your hosting with hostmonster.

For domain transfer you don't have to worry much. But yes if it is hosting change then also it only becomes complex when you have a dynamic and busy site.

Other wise it is simple. Just move the nameservers and make sure you have files on both the server when the move is going on. After 2 - 3 days delete files from the old server.
