View Full Version : How to tell if your website has been reviewed

I realized something today: When looking at the stats of one of my newest, very low traffic sites, I saw a referrer from:

http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/editunrev2.cgi

That means an editor visited my site and if all goes well, it will soon be added to DMOZ. :)

So, my advice would be, check your logs for such referrers!

You could be checking for years

Sounds encouraging. Why bother looking if you were not going to act upon what you observed.

Without sounding pesimistic - how does it mean your going to get listed - it depends ifyou have an editor who is a competitior.. whoops.. naughty.. it depends if you have an editor that appreciated your hard work and commitment.

Good luck :)

When I submitted to dmoz I noticed the same thing. However; it still took them months. It seems like they look; go away and think about it, come back later and look, think some more then maybe stick you in.

That URL will appear every single time an editor looks at your site from a link in the editor interface.

It can mean many many things but only one if them is the possible review. I look at anything upto a 100 sites per day by this method simply to check they are live and in the correct category. If they are not then they willget moved, if they are then they will remain for a full review (perhaps by me and perhaps not).

That's not what we do. Most of us just visit every waiting URL to sort through the working/non-working sites. We'll then go back and classify each one. After that, we review each one, then finally approve/reject it.

Kinda funny how to took four sentances to describe what DMOZ editors do, yet it's a 4 year process. Not you, of course, but other editors.

Yeah there are some bad editors out there.

Ive managed to get all my sites into smaller categories.

Question - Are sub-domains accepted? I submitted a couple a long time ago im still waiting on.

Well, they have looked at my site http://www.atheistworld.com and it has not been listed yet. Still waiting.

On one hand they say they include "quality" sites and on the other they include crappy sites like one page sites and ignore the QUALITY sites.

One of your many sites is already listed and the articles I found are the same/duplicated across sites. Therefore when looking at the site above the editor would mentally block out the content that is also contained on the other site you already have listed (in two locations) and editors are aware of this.

Just because you want to spread your content over various domains don't expect us to list them all. It will be reviewed in good time.

Lame response.

None of my sites contain the same content nor are the other sites which shares "some" of the same content the same.

Just more proof of how lame you people are.

Do you know the different between truth and lies?

On http://atheistworld.com/modules/news/ I have not been able to find one single article that is not contained within your other site that is already listed. I have checked each one!

The headlines are 'off site' which are not unique (off site mean you did not write it - someone else did and our user can get it direct from them - they are syndicated). The links are mainly your own sites, the calendar is empty and the chat room is probably redundant based on the lack of flooding visitor number.

It has not been declined but the reviewing editor will asses it whilst assessing the other sites listed and to be perfectly honest I am unable to see any other content that I have not commented on above that would justify a listing. When you take away the duplicated content, the content that is not your own, the empty sections, there is not much left other than the design itself.

I am not trying to be nasty or anything here but that is just the way it is.
