What are some of the ways you build up your opt-in lists?

And approximately, what's the ratio of content to promotions in your e-mail responses?

Though I am not building any list now, I have seen many webmasters placing an opt-in box on their websites offering something like free tips, free ebook etc.

What I;m doing right now is I have a squeeze page (one page site that with opt-in box) and I offer something for free when they sign up.

I am currently doing an ecourse for one list and a free report on the other.

Seems to be working so far.

Most of my list was built with a squeeze page that I promoted in traffic exchanges. I offered free ebooks for signing up for my newsletter. It worked quite well.

Offer somthing of Value, without Seeming to SELL IT

A Free 7 day course (which you will have to produce)

a free ebook

The first email will be that, then you will Follow up emails to them every 5-9 days, softselling to them, but you have to provide Usefull information to them and not just SELL to them blatently.
