Sorry if I am posting in the wrong forum but I currently own a PR3 domain name and am thinking about turning it into a web directory. What do you think? Is PR3 good for a directory?

It is most likely you would loose PR in changing the content and theme of the site. Although if you did retain some PR during the change and only accepted entries that had a PR rating it is possible you would regain it quickly. I would definately recommend not creating empty categories and create those on the fly as submissions are received.

^ hes right... you can loose your PR,,not unless you're continuously building links to your site... i've encountered this situation before, but because of my continuous link building,, i've retained my PR... :)

you are spot on

I had a PR5 domain and I turned into a directory and sold some links and sitewides and invested it back

Result Home page PR4 and inner pages PR3

Its now making atleast $30-40+$20 on sitewides

So I think its good!

not if you are intending to sell links, but if you are offering free links to start, yeah, you'll get some submissions. when you get it set up, you can solicit submissions here at DP under web directory solicitations and announcements (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65)
