There was a lot of discussion around this and ICANN had discussed this openly and everyone knew that someone at Regsterfly had taken a wrong route and had things were not good.
You should have moved 'em out earlier. No idea if you can get them. see if they are still available and if they are why not buy them back?

In the past, RF uses eNom so it might not be a bad idea to check where your domain names are actually registered at. If it is at eNom, you might be able to contact them for assistance.
Basically, all you need is the Auth Code or EPP Code to be able to transfer the domain names out of RF.
There are several posts over the last several months detailing steps which you can take to transfer your domain names. You might want to look for them.
Do not stay with RF because it is already a sinking ship without life rafts.

To the OP, if the domains haven't expired transfer out of them immediately.

You could have transfered to eNom for free...didn't they send you an email?
eddy2099
May 9th 2007, 11:12 pm
Even if they cost you money, you are adding another year of registration to those domain names so it is not like it is additional cost per se. Besides transferring out of RF is a good thing because the company is probably no longer going to be around for long.
If they are expired, they are no longer in your control. You have to renew them before they get expired.

But if the domain names have expired and the OP did not renew them, can they still sue RF because they lose those expired domain names ?
I thought that if the domain names have expired, it is no longer in your control.

If you'd let them expire, then there's nothing you can do. It's like having names with Godaddy, letting them expire, then saying can I sue Godaddy
but wont transferring cost me more money? :(
Yes, it would, but then your names wouldn't have expired. Plus you'd have another 1 year registration added to those names

I could save all my registerfly domain by contacting ICANN email at registerflies.com
Looks like they pressure RF to give authorisation codes. Authorisation codes were not visible to avoid people to quit the sinking boat.

I transfered three domains from registerfly to dotster AFTER they was expired. I initiated the transfer at the very day of expire though. Dotster was helpful. And I think that ICANN will give special permissions in many directions when it comes to that someone should not lose their domain. Remember ICANN is partly responsible for the mess.
You could try to contact ICANN. Or ENOM that probably will get all the Registerfly domains soon.

I have 40 domains registered with registerfly right now, and they are expiring by the day. RF doesn't answer emails, support tickets, and all of their phone numbers are dsconnected.
I am trying to initiate transfers but don't know how I can get auth codes without even being able to contact them.
These domains are my sole source of income, and if I lose them all I am up shit creek.
What is going to happen to all of these RF domains, and when? Also, how can I get auth codes?
eddy2099
May 10th 2007, 8:56 am
Why do you have to wait till it expired before you consider initiating the transfer ? On a typical registrar, the away domain name registrar would not permit it if it is cutting so close and besides transferring it anytime before that time will tag 12 months to the expiration date and you do not forfeit anything anyways.

Are they expiring today ? Read my story. Its not to late. there is written somewhere here at DP how to find the auth codes, you need to log into your account. go to domain details, contact address or something like that, then you will find the at the bottom of the page with your contacts. Transfer them to dotster.com for $5 using a coupon code.

Thanks for the help, some expired (but still point to my nameservers and show my contact info), but the ones I am most worried about have not expired. I paid registerfly for renewals which never happened. This whole thing is a huge clusterfuck.
I'm transferring to GoDaddy

Ok, the method of getting auth code you suggested worked. Thanks a ton.
The way I did it was log in, go to manage domains, and configure my contact information... It was all the way at the bottom of that page.
This may work on expired domains, but I haven't tried yet.

You should have been careful, I don't know if you were aware of the turn of events at RegisterFly.
Ofcourse transferring the domains would cost your money. But they add up another year of validity and you make them safe.
If think they might not be useful at all, then just forget them. Just take the ones you have plans on.

That's what I'm personally planning on doing... I'll transfer my 10-15 necessary domains, let the rest expire, and just pick them up at a later date if they're still available.
Btw, I got the auth code on registerfly, and entered it on godaddy... Now the transfer is awaiting approval by registerfly. Will this go through in an ample amount of time? Registerfly's phone numbers being disconnected concerns me...

Some domains are locked, when I try to unlock them with registerfly, they stay locked.
Also, some have protectfly enabled, and will not let me disable it.
Not all are like this though, some are unlocked and some that are locked will let me unlock.
The funny thing is that I never locked any of my domains, so I don't know why they are locked.
I shot an email to Oscar@registerfly.com, who I hear has helped other people.

Thanks for the useful link.
In the page, it mentions
Q. Why doesn’t ICANN bulk transfer the names now?
A. Like it or not, Registerfly is still technically accredited, pending the outcome of our lawsuit against them or their arbitration action. Because Registerfly is accredited, we cannot initiate a bulk transfer. When Registerfly’s termination is final, we will bulk transfer the names, either to a registrar suggested by Kevin Medina or one chosen by ICANN.
Anyone has any clue on when it will be available again? As bulk transfer without fee will surely help a lot of domain owners that has domains with RF.

Lemme get this straight, you lost the domain names because they expired? And your grounds to sue are that you're not Bill Gates' brother (thus, not wealthy.)
Am I correct?
If that's the case you certainly bit off more than you can chew.
