Hello,

I found a domain that I would need for my business few fours ago. I checked it with GoDaddy and it said it was free. So now I wanted to register it and it says its already taken.

There is no info in the database if I try whois, except if I try whois at Godaddy. It says there that domain is in redemption period and that it expired one month an a half ago.

I can not see it in TDNAM on auction and also not at SnapNames.

Can somebody answer me this:
1. how long does it take to come out of redemption period?
2. why did godaddy say its available few hrs ago, but now its taken?

Would appriciate your help, I really want the domain. its .com

That WHOIS tidbit you mentioned doesn't make any sense. I suggest you use
the WHOIS of the Registry since it's authoritative:

http://registrar.versign-grs.com/whois

Note the line "status". If it indeed says Redemption Period, count 35 days from
the last updated date for an estimate when it'll be released.

FYI, .com domain names are released at 2PM EST on the dot, DST or not.

Jason,

According to the domain cycle, it stays in the redemption for 30-45 days

According to the domain cycle, it stays in the redemption for 30-45 days

You might want to check that cycle again. Redemption Period for .com is 30
days (no more no less), then Pending Delete for 5 days before being released.
