My first day wasn't a good one: Chitika Outage (http://www.timflight.com/2005/10/08/chitika-outage/).

The first test was great. I had about 900 impressions and 6 clicks and earned about $2.60 .
I check my stats today - over 2,000 impressions, 28 clicks and less than $2!
What happened???

I am suddenly hearing lots about them and have been trying to research them for another project I'm working on. I love the model and the concept but have read lots of pros and cons.

I got paid. I love Chitika. :)
Chitika (eMiniMalls) is new, there are still a lot space for improvement. I suggest you give it more times.

Good results here, same or higher clicks than adsense and 3 x the payout, even though the eminimall ads I show are rather low value. If I had visitors that wanted ipods or similar expensive items, I think I'd be rich.

I got an extremely low CTR with Chitika, couldn't keep it up more than a few days - it was killing me knowing I was missing out on other income.

You should run some kind of tracking so you can see what ads are clicked and then focus on products in that category.
I'm sure that if I showed ads for plasma tv's and cameras I'd have a clickthrough rate just around 0.

In many situations the Chitika MiniMalls are great. Right now the results are different for different type of content. But, as it is a new service I think the things will get better. Anyway I like the idea of MiniMalls (since the contextual model is the first new type of advertising and I'm very currious to see how it will grow)... :)

You should try keywords to target your ads.
I signed up to Chitka and let it run yesterday on one of my sites. Adsense and minimalls on the same page, keywords targeted to what the user was searching for, results:
976 impresssions
Chitka: $0.45
Adsense: $3.49
No comparision.

I had a click yesterday which paid off $1.25!!! How do I know that it is from one click? Because it was the only click I got! :D

My first day was great too, I set it up in the evening and 3 clicks paid me $1.20! Continue like that and I'll dump AdSense :D
AdSense really could implement PayPal payment ... it takes too long to arrive here and when it comes, 10% is lost because of taxes (plus another long wait)! Gotta love the brazilian government :)

I left it running on hotdotmusic.com and had 4 clicks paying out $2.45 yesterday. I gotta finish that site someday!

I've just started to use Chitika on a recipe site that makes very little from AdSense ... so I am giving eMinimalls priority over AdSense for a while just to see what it can do.
The problem with it seems to be in the time it takes to get setup. I am running it alongside AdSense, so each ad needs to be keyworded. Has anyone found that this approach works and is profitable?

I have Chitika running in a site where Adsense pays around $0.15 a click. Chitika is paying $0.49 each click, so the lower CTR is well compensated.
At least in this specific site, Chitika results better than Adsense. And since you can have both together, why don't give it a chance?

I am really enjoying chitika right now... I think it is a nice spot filler.. not good for all sites or all pages.. but there are some places where it is just really good for.. much better than adsense or anything else I have tried.
