Hey everyone. I'm pretty new to Wordpress (okay, VERY new) and wondering what your experience has been with WP plugins.
What's the deal with them? Which do you find the most beneficial, why, etc.?

the built-in/default plug-in named 'Backup . . .'
allows you to instantly backup your database, i dont think any plug-in can compete with that (unless you have never lost data due to being too lazy to backup??)

SEO Title Tag (http://www.doshdosh.com/wordpress-hacks-plugins/wordpress-seo/) is one of the most essential plugins IMO, especially if you want to get some search traffic. Highly recommended by a lot of SEO experts out there so you can't go wrong with this one. :)

Hi,
I would say the only absolute must is Aksimet.
Those that I have found very helpful are the Feedburner Feed Replacement and Google Site Map Generator. I back up my databases from cpanel and I no longer use Bad Behavior (it actually locked me out once), and Spam Karma (I found it redundant with Akismet). However, I do moderate all comments from new users.

I actually just posted a list of what I consider the 10 best wordpress plugins (http://www.chicktech.net/blogging/ten-best-wordpress-plugins/) for my own blogs last night. So I'd recommend any on that list depending on your needs (not that there aren't plenty of other great ones).
