View Full Version : Can somebody recommend an affiliate program to me?

I understand there are so many, I've read quite a bit about affiliate marketing, but I just can't seem to find a program will make me money. I tried Dish Network, and there is too much competition and keywords are expensive, I ended up losing money with that. I tried Amazon's store with video game systems, made about $45.00.
When Blockbuster introduced their Total Access program, I bought a domain and some keywords and in 1 week make $200.00. I checked my account at that time and it didn't show any sales, so I stopped purchasing keywords, or I could've made much more than that. A couple days ago I got a deposit in my account for $224.00. I'm not going to purchase those keywords again, since it's probably not the same as it was back then and there are many affiliates for that program now.
I'm unemployed and having a hard time finding work, I can spend about $50 a week on keywords. I prefer a program that pays monthly. Can anybody help me? I'm not looking for a program that will make me rich, just enough to put food on the table. I'm an honest person, if you help me, I'll give you a portion of my earnings every time I get paid.
I know I'm asking for too much, but if somebody could please help me out I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

You should also list if you live in the usa or canada because some affiliate programs are only for those countries.

Well like you said there are many. Commission Junction is one of the best and include a lot of major companies. They pay good if you hook with a good advertiser and you have good traffic. If you do not make anything in 6 months, they will drop you. Adsense by Google is great if you follow the rules and have good traffic. Amazon is fair but I never made anything with them but some people do. Those are my three recommendations.

CJ would be your best bet, where did you buy your keywords?

May 7th 2007, 11:23 am
I'm in Texas, and I bought my keywords at overture/yahoo. I know about CJ and those networks, but I'm looking for a specific program that I can make money from. I know for obvious reasons that, that might not be possible which I understand, but I'm just asking anyway. For example: Blockbuster introduced their Total Access program, so I went and bought a domain and keywords for that program. There are many companies out there, but I don't know which ones or which product will make me money. I just want to purchase keywords and a domain, and forward the customer to the product or offer, anything beyond that is too complicated to me.
Thanks again.

If you are interested in adult affiliates, DatingGold.com is a good place that converts well. 100-300$ a day is what I was showing. HOWEVER, do not use myspace to drive traffic to DatingGold, it is against their TOS and you will be banned and earnings lost.

Thanks for the advise! I'll give it a try, what would you recommend? a PPC campain? or placing ads on craigslist or personals? or would this be against TOS?

I don't have my account there anymore because I violated their ToS by using myspace (which wasn't in the ToS when I signed up :( )

Please be reminded abcd that the world of Affiliate Marketing will offer you a sea of success stories. But don't forget that it's really up to you. Your choice of the Program will matter first. And once you're IN you're up for more work to do which again requires your personal choice and decisions. Yeah, I understand. There is so much work involved, I'm trying to learn as much as possible. I've gotten good advise, and guidance from making this thread. I'm going to try the herbal pills (male enhancement pills, climax pills, etc..) programs. If anybody has any advise, reviews or observations it would be greatly appreciated.
I also want to try the adult-dating programs, but I don't know if they're oversaturated or not. I'm getting confused with the types of pages I should make, review pages, landing pages, feeder sites. I dont know how to make these pages, and have to try to find somebody that's experienced in this field. Not sure what to do with dating websites. At this time with all my programs, I'm just directing traffic directly to the offer. It worked out well with Blockbuster's offer, hopefully it could work with these programs as well.
Thanks again!

Ahaha! Adult programs -- I guess this sector of Affiliate Marketing has been tagged as the most active based on the study done last 2004. If you are into herbal pills please also check out Hoodia Affiliate Program (http://cyc.affiliatecrew.com/).

Hmmm....
Which affiliate program would I choose if I was on a limited budget and wanted to eat regularly. One from a major company like CJ or one from an ebook/course publisher.
I'd choose the ebook/course publisher if I had limited funds. For beginners, to drive enough traffic to be successful with a manstream company from CJ, you'll either have to have a high volume site or big PPC budget.
With the ebook/course program, I can buy some low PPC keywords and start making money before you can start a site and generate enough traffic to make a CJ aff pay. (this is assuming that you're starting from zilch with limited funds)
The trick is to find a product that everyone else isn't hawking then research the cost per click of the keywords.
If you have a $$$ to play with, then CJ may be your thing (although there are many better Aff companies out there IMHO)
Good Luck and keep us updated!

Thanks for your informative post. Yes, I'm on a limited budget ($5 a day on keywords) so far I'm mostly trying herbal male enhancement pills, somebody else that does the same thing and understands more than I do, is helping me with advise. Hopefully it'll work out.
The e-books that you're referring to, are they targeted to anybody specific such as, afilliates? Or just any e-book in general on any topic? Do they have affiliate programs for e-books? If so, do you have links to a publisher? Or are all e-books sold individually?
Sorry, I'm completely new to e-books and never understood why anybody would purchase them, there's so much information online and so many people giving that information out for free such as websites like this.
With an e-book, do you have to have your own site or landing page? I prefer to direct traffic directly to the offer or a feeder site, since I'm new and not sure what will work or not, don't want to spend extra money on websites, landing pages, etc..
Thanks again, I'm going to see what kind of information I can find on this subject.

I'm not sure if you will believe my story TxDon. When I started my Affiliate Site and have become an affiliates to some shoes merchant, I didn't have any money! My boss, our present Affiliate Manager, can attest to that because he even paid for my affiliate site and had it registered at GoDaddy.
Then, I was on my own because he had to leave. I really didn't know what to do. Plus e-business is not so much popular here in our place; thus I have no credit cards, no everything.
What I did to survive since I can't pay for the continuous registration of my affiliate site, I sticked to blogging. Did free SEO strategies like directory submission.
I'm a chemist and knew nothing about programming and other techie things. I don't even know what's a keyword. So I had to learn it on my own. Thanks to my friends who helped me sort things out.
Until now, my blog/affiliate site is still there. My aim is to earn from all of my FREE strategies so I can invest on PAID strategies.

There are some good programs on this thread. If you want a constant flow of $7 per sale try the one in my signature. It's not a barnbuster, but it can be steady income. Everything worthwhile takes time; the challenge is finding time and using it efficiently.

I think most of the programs in this thread are out of my budget or knowldedge at this time. I've setup a couple male enhancement sites, dating sites, and adult sites. I didn't create a website, I'm sending traffic directly to the offer or feeder site.
I've got about 200-300 keywords in each campaign, and my budget is at .20 There is so much competition people are paying really high amounts. I get about 10 clicks total a day from all those sites. My budget is $150 a month. Somebody suggested that I could go with 5 phrase long keywords in this market so I'll try that.
Anybody have suggestions for low competition niches?
Thanks

You know why you're seeing lots of Programs which are beyond your budget? That's because you've decided to join a VERY ACTIVE sector of Affiliate Marketing. Supply and demand theory will tell you that since the demand of those for adults stuff is really high then it suffice that keyword competition and pay will really be great. But don't despair, I guess investing in those will soon make a great return.

Yeah, but the problem is that I really don't have anything to invest. I'm not giving up, but my budget is at $5.00 a day and .20 max bid. So advise or referrals to any other low competition niches would be greatly appreciated, although I don't see why anybody would do that since they don't want their market to get saturated. :(
Thanks

Damn, I'm trying to find some low niche markets, and happened to search "Lasik" (as in lasik eye vision correction). Keywords are from $12-$15  (according to keyword elite)

Maybe you should avoid bidding on expensive stuff for now. Don't you have any alternative to that? Have you already saturated all free things? If not please test the waters through those things before spending too much.

I came across with some affiliate programs before that offer free access to affiliate things through their affiliate account. Examples are dynamic links and access to set of keywords where you can bid on that ensures great returns. And those are offered for FREE.
