I didn't know about this until today when I tried to investigate some odd Yahoo! search results where the listings were on the 1st or 2nd SERP for some search queries that returned xxx, xxx, xxx results (major keywords) and those listings included different (but correct) title and description than their landing pages (somewhat like custom title and description). And also I did not notice any special or "so many" backlinks to those sites. So digging into Yahoo! services and products I found this page: http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/srchsb/ssp.php?o=INVALID&b=0

And I think that would be the best explanation for SOME (I know there are "other" ways) of the odd results on Yahoo's top SERPs.
Search Submit Pro lets you create titles and descriptions that are displayed as algorithmic search result listings. The program can automatically generate result listings that best match user queries. You can update the information frequently, independent of changes to your Web site.

It's all about money Search Submit Pro is typically for customers with search marketing budgets of $5,000 per month or more, or advertisers who submit more than 1,000 Web pages to the program.

It has no impact on rankings. It guarantees inclusion, reindexing within 48 hours, and you can send them extra meta data. But rankings are not impacted by this submission directly.

Nah, old stuff. Yahoo is too much a money-faced.

But I would call them a bit smart though. Webmasters can buy links from other websites and go to the top. It's the same money game but through different payee.

Can you elaborate?

fezbucks, consider text-link-ads.com.The reason that there're more and more link sellers and link buyers is because linking works. It brings your websites to the top. Google and yahoo prove so by giving us the "link:http://www.yourwebsite.com" syntax to gauze if our site have enough links, a.k.a. compliments, from other websites.

You know, too much elaboration on linking is a taboo for webmasters. You should instead search "search engine optimization" to learn more. And after that if you do the SEO stuff wearing grey hat, you had better carry this webmaster taboo too. In fact, there has never been a white or black hat for any webmaster. Everyone does it in grey.

Sorry for all these pseudos. It's taboo.
