Better contact yahoo about this. I dont think they can just deactivate your account like that. Better find out whats going on and switch to gmail!

I would write them because maybe it was just a maintance problem, I have had Yahoo mail for 9 years and I have never had a major problem. Once in a while there is a time they are down for maintance but that is the same even at Gmail. Don't panic if you did nothing wrong. Just check later and if you still have the problem, contact them.

Just make sure you have not used it to spam because Yahoo has cracked down on that hard lately.

Did you not login to your email account from many months? I hear that they de-activate accounts if you don't use it for many months.

Oh . . . my gosh

I've never heard about this kind of thing on Yahooo before.

If you don't use your Yahoo account for some time . . . maybe several months . . . then that's when you can expect your emails to have beed deleted. You can reinstate your account . . . but all the old emails will have gone.

Be seeing you

I had same problem 1 year ago..
With a day before i used the email and messenger without any problems, next day in the morning when i tried to login i got a message saying that the account was deactivated..
no explanations, nothing..
I emailed them but i haven't any response.. i tried to register but it told me that the user is already registered..

now i see that somebody else picked-up my yahoo user.. probably the account have been suspended for 6 months and after that was deleted and somebody else registered.. :(

this is fucking shit..

I think someone might hacked ur password and locked it !!!
Just try to retain password by other methods

This is why it is always adviced to use email account with your own domain name for business purpose. You will be having complete control over it.

Don't panic. A system error or whatever it is can be discussed and solved with Yahoo staff. I had my account locked once and they helped me unlock it after I contacted them to explain the matter.

I think Yahoo will take days to answer, if they answer at all....It is a potential disaster.

If you can't do anything about it, then i would suggest that you register for another one for your temporary or permanent use.

If you can't do anything about your needed data, then why spend your time worrying about it. Things yo have no control over should be left out otherwise, you'll be the one left behind.

I hope this helps you clear your mind. ;)

Like I said, I was lucky enough to get the right support level from them. And got my account unlocked and password reset within 48 hours. They needed to verify me before issuing a temporary password, and I was surprised that they were helpful after all.

I've always had success with their CS. (sometimes have to sort through the forms), but I am so happy that your data was not lost. This is really something to think about. I believe I will download text formats of all of my yahoo mail today (important ones), or forward to a different account. I was really scared when I first saw your thread. Wake up call! I had some similar happenings with a mail client by mail.com. They locked me out, fixed it within a week, and said, oops, sorry. But the problem is that I was using paypal for the addy and I lost some important information. I was so angry!!!

I am curious as to what prompted the lock out, any clues?

Yeah, something made me change my Y! password and could not remember it the next morning. I tried to recover it X times since I was unsure about the security questions and answers, and finally got it figured out but the system had already locked it out due to multiple failed attempts.

So I was advised to contact them for support which I did and got my account unlocked. Eventually, they asked me a few security questions as well as mailbox related questions such as the folder structure, address book entries etc.

Hello,

Someone could have deleted your account. It's very possible.

Give them a call to find out about it:

People, when are you going to learn that the best thing is to have your own email at your own domain! If you have bad hosting (aka with a lot of spam and such) just sign up for Google Apps and start ruling!

I have most of my domains set up with Google Apps and I have my customized logins and I'm really happy with it especially after the fact that I can hook up several different domains and add them as "aliases" in my Google Apps so I can receive them in the same account.

Also Google Apps is still free which simply ROCKS!

I used to pay for my Yahoo account because I ran out of 1GB space and I needed more .. so .. with Google you'll never run out of space!

Cheers,

Venetsian.

Once I had problems with Yahoo Mail, and I wrote to the support. Next day I was surprised that they have replied that they fixed the problem. I think they do care about Yahoo Mail users.

If you did something wrong that broke TOS in any way your gone.

Last year I uploaded a video for a friend, the video had her falling down on the stairs and when she was getting up her breast showed for like 1/2 a sec.

THEY OWNED ME!

They took me out, my finance account was gone, i lost all access to my domain name (i got them now), my yahoo video account was owned, yahoo games ranking owned!

My hotjob resume was blown to pieces.

And the email you will get is TOS link or if teh guys is nice he/she will show you in email what part you broke.
Basically everything that i own that was within google corporation connected to that one email address :-(
