Hi Folks,

I was searching google for an article directory script and came across this site:
articledashboard. com

I thought I would share this information to everyone looking to start thier own article directory.

The script is SEF. But there is downside of having the php files encoded. :(

You need to sign up thier newsletter to download the script btw.

Tuning

I'll be making a mod of PHP Link Directory that does this pretty soon. Let me know if you are interested in testing when it goes beta.

Yep, Dvduval.

I'm already ready to test. :)

tuning- you say "The script is SEF. But there is downside of having the php files encoded"

does this mean that the article directory will not be search engine spider friendly since the articles will be encoded or what?

Tuning

Nope, this means you can't edit php files except templates. :)

The script is SEF, but authors have encoded the files so that there won't be any unauthorized use.

Thanks,
I'm just wondering why they would offer it for free..Is there a catch to it? nothing in life is really for free

I believe, they are seeking good backlinks by providing it free. Once they get good rankings, they can sell un coded script for even $999.

The script looks terriffic IMO.

That makes sense. I'm uploading the files as i write this.
I've seen files with the .tpl extension and .so extension

Are these files uploaded in Binary or ASCII format?

Sorry I have no idea. My FlashFXP automatically changes the mode. :)

I've visited your directorysubmission.net site

Do you guarantee that the sites you submit on behalf of your clients will get listed or is the fee just associated with the labor of submitting sites?

Will i get a list of the sites you will submit to?

There are article directory scripts (Php) that look very nice. Directory example: http://blogtelecast.com is a nice directory using php similar to articledashboard. I think there are many others out there that do the job. Anything "free" is going to have limitations. I want a script that works!

that articledashboard works ok and is very search-engine friendly. They're debugging as they go and I'm extremely pleased with the results. Just need more articles now on my site(s)!!!!! :D ;)

Hi Tuning,

I run www.freearticlesdirectory.com which uses article dashboard, and it works fine. I get about 200 articles submitted every day, and it can get a bit labour intensive as most people don't submit to the correct category, or they include too many links in their text.

So beware when you take on an articles directory, as I figure you need at least 10,000 articles before you start to make any money. I have launched a specialist travel related directory http://www.rentals365.com/articles/ as I think specialist directories might do better in the future.

Mike,

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get up to 200 articles a day? How did you get started to attract those many postings and how long it took for you to start getting those many postings?

Thanks,
JR

i have a few sites using this script (article dashboar-d)- its ok but it really is a pain to make any changes cause it is encrypted and the wont help you at all .. I finally had my own script made and I got 10 times better results with getting the pages indexed. another thing is there are people who find vulnarabilities in widely used script like this and then hack them and put their own links over the entire directory and hijack your list ... problem is with it encrypted its hard to make it more secure or figure out where the vulnerabilities are.

Hello,

For anyone who is looking for a top class article directory script better than any other available in the market then have a look at PHPKB Script (http://www.knowledgebase-script.com) on www.knowledgebase-script.com (http://www.knowledgebase-script.com)

It comes with Fully Commented PHP Source Code and the code is not encrypted in any way. You are free to modify the script files for your requirements (if any). PHPKB script is full of features and the online demo is avilable. Best of all it comes with 30 days money back guarantee if it doesn't works for you.

Really? I had an Article Dashboard Site here http://www.brunkco.com for over a year and never got above a PR2.... I replaced it with Article Friendly two weeks ago and it jumped to a PR4.

Anyways, theres ton's of paid article publishing scripts all around $100.00 and up to $800.00. I would check other's sites that are using the other paid scripts as one guy told me he bought one of the pricey scripts and the seller said the script allowed subdirectories in the sales copy, but when he got it, it didn't allow subdirectories and the seller said they were going to add that sometime in the future.

I've used that script before and there were some serious security issues with it. I would suggest doing a search for that script and see what experiences others have had with it ...

hitboy ... do you mean the your very own article directory script? It's actually the turtle beach (or article beach, or something like that) script which has probably gotten close to the alltime, most hacked scripts on the net. Some give it away, and some still try to sell it....

If you decide to use it, make sure you go thru it thoroughly for exploits and hacks in the script (I think an encoded and hidden iframe was the most obvious backdoor in the script) before putting in up on your site.

no article friendly script it doesnt seem free and also your pr changes dont effect anything within 2 weeks it takes alot longer then that lol

hiredgunz
Feb 4th 2007, 11:44 pm
More than two weeks? Dang, I was always under the impression that google could change your PR as fast or slow as they wished, or even take it away if they so choose, and the change would be immediate as google wished. I really wasn't aware that google is limited to what it can do with it's pr system.. Learn something new everyday :)

No, Article Friendly isn't free. Although its probably the cheapest article publishing script with the most features.

I dont know if your trying to be sarcastic but maybe you should read more on pagerank changes and google lol'

article friendly does look like a good script you wouldnt happen to work for them would you? I am just curious

hiredgunz
Feb 5th 2007, 4:05 am
LoL .. It really doesn't matter to me what google can or can't do .. All I know is whats happened on my sites and other's sites in the past. After thats said and done, it's just not worth discussing how long it takes for google to change someone's PR. Not to be rude, but my feeling is that google can and will do what google wants and I'm not interested in second guessing them. Although I'm aware there are alot of people that claim to be able to ;)

If you say it takes longer than two weeks to change pr ( although I've redesigned sites and seen their PR change same or next day) then thats just fine with me!

Anyways, best of luck to you and have a great day,

Jan

Yes there is. Simple Article Management (http://www.simplearticlemanagement.com) Script lets you input meta tags and custom file names for every article you post.
