Hello all,
Is anyone using Urchin Web Analytics (http://www.urchin.com) to analyze their site traffic? Any feedback?
Thanks

I use Urchin6 On-demand.
Is this the version you're considering, Lim'?

Yep. Isn't it the only one available anyway?
EDIT: I see, there is also Urchin 5

I started using it when they lowered the price to $200/month.
It's pretty nice. However, there are a few things that annoy me:
-It logs you off automatically if it's idle for >five minutes (or so).
-It doesn't report on robots/spiders
The goal/conversion tracking actually WORKS!
The only other thing I don't like is that it runs on their servers. But the trade-off is worth it for me.
I think they have a 30 day trial available.
Or let me know if you want to see any specific screenshots and I'll send them to you.

Thanks, Rob :)
I think I'll go for the trial version.
This bugs me a little though (see below)
I am expecting more than 100,000 per month. If I don't want to pay the extra $100, I guess I can take down the tags? Do they charge you automatically upon exceeding the limit?
Service Fee: $199 per month.
Pageviews Included: 100,000 per month.
Additional Pageviews: $99 per million.

I get more than 100,000/month and haven't been charged extra. Actually, they've charged me just one time so far. So it's been free for the last four months or so.
They don't even have an online billing system yet. I had to email them to get a copy of the first invoice.

Sounds like a great deal ;)
Even though, I noticed that they do require a CC during the free trial signup. Maybe they got their act together just recently so the new people to sign up won't be as lucky

Yeah, the credit card I gave them was stolen shortly after and I haven't "been able" to give them my new number yet. :D

I use Urchin as well... but I use the software version (not on demand) which is only version 5. Mostly looking forward to Urchin 6 as a software product this fall.

I use Urchin 5 as well ... if anyone knows how to create custom reports in it let me know!

I have Urchin 5 and I don't think you can create custom reports through their set up.

You can. You just have to do it through the config files, and it's a little convoluted. That's why I was asking if anybody else had already made any, haha.
What I want is a report that shows pages that were spidered for a particular date range. Out of the box it only shows how many times the spider visited during the date range, not the pages it requested.
You have any solution for this rob?

Nope, not through Urchin. My Urchin-5 is managed by my hosting company.

Got Urchin 5.7something just installed. Looks good but doesn't seem to be working that accurately. Doesn't show Bots / referrers yet though the site is brand new and Google indexed it, so they must have been round. Also don't like the fact reports open in a new window. What's the point?
Maybe I need to tweak my access logs to fix the bugs, haven't spend any time looking into that yet so it might be my fault...
Before I got it I made sure sure there's no back door reporting going on to Google like the toolbar does. I hope that stays like that in 6.
Does any of you run the e-commerce license? What significant benefits does it offer?

Thanks to all who replied :)
I just started my 30-day trial with Urchin 6 on Demand. Any idea how often the stats get updated? Can't get any stats to appear so far

Answered my own question by visiting their help center online
"You will need to wait three hours after installing your UTM code and receiving traffic before your reports are populated with data."

My reports seem to update every 8 hrs. or so. (but I'm not really sure)
Here's what they say:
Once you have installed the UTM on your site, your reports will be regularly updated throughout the day with the latest information.

Weird. This is where I get my info: http://www.google.com/support/urchin/bin/answer.py?answer=22398&topic=1234
(I think that url is public)

Every hour? No way! That definitely isn't the case for my sites. It updates just a few times /day.

That's because you have not been paying them ;)

Thanks for this thread. I got hooked on Urchin 5 at hosts who offered it for free.
Now I'm at a host that is better, except no Urchin.
I'd love to have Urchin again, but my understanding is the price is $900 (?) which seems kind of unreasonable for a stats program, or at least overkill for my level of traffic.
I'm willing to pay, just not $900. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
