The contest will go as follows:

Sorry Guys...shouldnt have taken so long to let you know that me and Gareth sold the website to a new owner. He was fully informed about the contest and decided as the new owner of the site to not continue it...should have let you guys know earlier...my bad :S

No, I'm afraid I was never made aware of any such contest.

It was mentioned that $5 was owed to a single member, and I pushed to have that paid before the sale was made.

Shady, I think you and Gareth should reimburse those members you agreed to pay money to, otherwise all you're doing is scamming DigitalPoint members with fake offers of payment, and I don't think that acceptable at all.

In the meantime, I'm having to counter complaints such as the above on third-party sites, such as the chargebackforum.com, and I shouldn't have to do that just because you didn't have the decency to honour payment agreements yourself and your partner have made.

First of all I want to say that I understand why everyone is upset....I know that I would be if I was in the same situation.

When you buy a website/business/house/ANTHING, you not only buy all of profits and positive aspects of it, but you also buy all of the debt and often some negative aspects of the item.

the contest was very publically posted on the website (through the use of a threead and a large banner). Ialso genuinly believe that I, Brian was notified by either myself or Gareth privately about the contest but I may be wrong and there may have being some miscommunication.

even if we never told told I, Brian about the contest, I Brian never asked about the current state of the contest or the terms of the contest so we can not be responsible that I, Brian purchased a site and did not do the proper research.

If I, Brian fells that he wants to contact me privately and make a pursuasive argument on why myself and Gareth should stake some of the cost of this posting contest then he can do that. I do feel though that everyting was done fairly on our half and I feel bad for both I, Brian and all of the partakers in the posting contest.

That's why you should research every single detail before you buy.

Sorry, that's bollocks - if you abjectly fail to disclose any debts outstanding on a purchase, then it's a failure of your responsibilities to make such a disclosure. I wasn't even made aware of the contest.

I was informed of a single $5 debt, and made a big point of that being sorted before the purchase. At absolutely no other time was it stated that further debts outstanding.

Here's the bottom line - I bought a website, not a business - any financial arrangements made between individuals before such a purchase are entirely between those individuals.
