I use 1and1.com for ordering domain names because they are always 5.99 which is 30% off the 8.95 godaddy charges and they don't try to sell me a bunch of stuff I don't want when I am tring to check out. Thank you for the codes they could come in handy for other stuff.

Yes, I would never register domains for $8.95, but with these promo codes I get them for $7.20
But $5.99 for 1and1 is excellent. And it includes private registration.
I never went with them because I'm very cautious with whom I trust my domains, but maybe I will give them a try.
Thank you very much!

your welcome
Be aware of some companies that offer 4.95 per domain it is usually b.s. because it costs $5.75 for them so they are actually losing money and they are either going to charger you more(9.95 to 12.95) when you try to renew or it's a limited offer with strings attached like you have to get hosting.

Just click the radio button that says, "use expert checkout" and you skip all the promo crap. As far as I am concerned Godaddy has the best interface and is the easiest/quickest to setup nameservers and if you happen to sell a domain, transfer is simple. I sold a site hosted on IPOWER, and now I have to go get a letter noterized, send them a photocopy of my drivers license and my Mastercard, boy that makes me uncomfortable.

I got 2 domain names from netfirms within a week and they have no problem with it, I didnt get any spam from them yet. If i get i will report abuse.
So far their support is excellent and full control over domain names working well for me in just $4.95 / domain name.

I agree that GoDaddy has a very good interface and easy setup - the change of nameservers seems to take place almost instantaneously for immediate propagation too.
I had some real hassles with 1&1 like you did with IPower - I set up an account for my neighbors to promote their vineyard and the 1-1 just wasn't working well without getting into specifics, so I registered them a new domain and simply let them have a chunk of my webhosting as I had some excess IP addys. Anyway, cancelling the 1&1 was like trying to apply for a passport - after going through the online process, they then wanted all of this paperwork, copies of other stuff and so on. I simply got the impression they were trying to make it difficult to cancel so they could retain the account - no go; I simply had them barred from the credit card and poof - it was taken care of without sending them a bunch of BS information and paperwork. I didn't need all of that paperwork to sign up, why would I to cancel??

Yeah, I just haven't had any urge to switch from Go Daddy. I've been happy with them since day one. No problems and whenever I do have an issue (usually me not understanding something) I have always had great support. And they do regularly offer specials and discounts etc. so often have a shot at cheaper buys and renewals.

I used one of the codes yesterday and saved 10% - thanks!
daboss - promo codes and the amount "given up" by the company becomes a dollar for dollar deduction off their AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) - what they "lose" on the front end by giving away discounts, they make up for on their taxes. Promotion codes have a two-fold purpose attract/retain customers and create a tax break for themselves.

This is for anybody who wants to get a Turbo SSL certificate for $19.95. There was a promotion, but it expired on 10/31. So I searched through google for it and found the page that the deal was on! I then proceeded to purchase it and even got a domain for 1.99! I guess google indexed the page and Godaddy hasn't disable the deal since they use it every so often with occasional black out dates.
http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ssl/turbo.asp?isc=tebssl01
If you don't see the deal just do a search on google for "godaddy $19.95 turbo ssl" (without the quotes) and it should be the first link. Hope this helps some people.

Correct me if I am wrong, but would that not be $50 a year ?? it's a bit steep for a domain ...

1 and1 sucks. Customer service is not very good. Also, you can't register for longer than 1 year with 1and 1. If you're interested in optimizing your site, Google wants to see long domain name registration periods.

No real evidence to support that. Sure they have a patent along those lines, but it is unlikely that google is using $6 domain registration for an extra year as criteria for better rankings.

I've gotten several of my domains lately from ipower.com at 2.95 ea. short checkout, no obligations to host etc. can't figger out their angle but it works and they give you free privacy if you want. I've used it several times over the last 3 months, no problems. you do have to email them to unlock your domain to change nameservers though, which was a little more work than it should be. But for 2.95 I'm not complaining

2 things -- I'm a long time G.D. user and their insistence on barraging you with ads -- you can minimize the number but it's still way-too-high! -- is absolutely mindless. The man who runs their show is a genius, but he's got blind spots like everyone else.
one-and-one has been slammed on many forums like these, so I'm steering clear of it.
Registerfly is worth lots of looks if you're transfering/renewing ($5.89 per, but you'll have to switch again after a year, because they rely on non-bargain renewals to stay solvent.
Coupons
Jan 8th 2006, 12:56 pm
At RegisterFly I usually only renew when I got some temporary promo code like these ones:
1.99 .info: INFOSPECIAL
8.50 backorder DROPFLY
7.99 registrations FLY799
7.99 renewals RENEW799
But they only work from time to time.
But I'm transferring most of my domains to Godaddy anyway. And when I transfer them, I add more years to the deal, so that I don't have to renew for a high price in the next year. That way I can renew my domains for 4 or 5 years, for more or less $6 each :)

IPOWER SUCKS. Boy, they couldn't process my domain purchase for 2 days, on the third I called to cancel it, the rep. said they did nothing, didn't even charge the CC, or hold the domain name. The only thing I liked was the music "classical piano" while I was waiting for about 18min or more on the phone for a tech support. In addition I was their affiliate ....... up to the point I realized this is not a company I want to associate myself and my sites with. Told them to send me an email when they start working the way other companies do.
Don't want to talk any longer about Ipower and their service, just want to keep my day nice.
Pay $5.00 more and go with godady or somebody else, but stay way away from Ipower unless you want to undergo "patience" training course with Ipower behind the wheel.
Good luck.

You can get cheap reg's, you can get expensive regs.
Quality is most important.
I have quite a few domains.
I'm not impressed well by GoDaddy or 1&1.
I'd rather, and do, pay more for domain regs and get the better services, i.e. less problems and hassles.
Save a small amount of money isn't always the best way to go. Nor is paying the most.
You can "haggle" with MOST registrars and get better prices.

Since the beginning of this thread, I must have saved more than $300. I transferred many domains to Godaddy, and renewed some until 2011.
Always registering domains for $7.20, and transferring / renewing for even less.
I knew that sharing my codes would create a good thread, and that other members would bring many other good codes. Thank you!

I originally found this forum, when I was considering registering a domain through GoDaddy, and I Googled for "GoDaddy coupon codes" - anyhow, DIgital Point saved me a few dollars, and I like the pass the favor along:
Just got a new promo offer from them, only good for 2 days, but it's a good offer - $10 off any order of $40 or more:
TWO DAYS ONLY... offer expires January 29, 2006 at midnight.
If everything in your cart totals $40 or more, you save $10!

Yes, it does. And you don't have to renew one name at a time either. Just pile up your names into your shopping cart, then apply the code @ checkout and you should get the $6.95 pricing for each name.

The folks @ GoDaddy have caught onto all the old tricks, and they are disabling the old codes too. I'll keep posting new codes as I find them (I'm hoping others will too), but all those "add services just to cancel them later" tricks are not my thing. GoDaddy consistently has very good prices for domain names, so gaming the system only hurts their business model and ends up costing us more in the long run.
As always, IMO.

pilot
Mar 11th 2006, 10:36 pm
Emperor, assuming your have a hosting account with another host, you just have to assign the nameserver of the domain name to the server of your hosting account (ex. ns1.yournameserver.com & ns2.yournameserver.com).
After changing the nameserver, wait for the nameserver propagation (usually take only a few minutes to an hour for GoDaddy). GoDaddy will send you a confirmation email right after the domain name is completely propagated. Then you can start building your Wordpress blog. :)
Hope this helps.

Got a nice trick for you to purchase .COM at just $6.69 at godaddy.. ;) just did it for me and works wonders!!
Purchase a standard domain appraisal, and add a domain name of your choice to the cart.. it will be charged $1.99 since you are buying a non-domain product together with it ;) apply the saveten promo code or similar and save a further 10%... and get your domain for such a low price, and a free appraisal too :D
worked like a charm. THANKS!:D

The latest GoDaddy code is gdh0429 and it gets you 25% off orders of $100 or more. But it sucks because it won't work for renewals or on domain names that are already discounted. AND, it will expire in 3 days
Here's my latest blog entry on the subject:

I have just tried GDRADIO22 for $10 off any $40 order. It's only valid for new domain registration and domain transfer. NOT working for domain renewal though.
I played around with other codes with domain renewal in the shoppping cart, so far all codes I used are not valid for domain renewal. This is pretty sad for loyal customers. :(

Seems all the codes don't work for renewals, which sucks cause I'd just renew domains I know I want to keep every time a good coupon came around :(

Yep, me too, and I think there are lots of folks out there who do the same. GD better stop this nonsense, or else they're going to piss off the domainers with large domain name portfolios.
I actually registered a new .TV domain name today @ eNom and I've always registered .TV names @ GoDaddy. I couldn't find a working coupon code to use @ GoDaddy, and eNom has $25 .TV names for resellers right now:

Use Discount Coupons on this page and save 25% on the already low GoDaddy domain registration or hosting fees. There is a long list of secret discount coupon codes and discounts that can be used right now.
