View Full Version : Seeking Security Program for PDFs

Hi there,

I've been using security programs for my PDF files so people can't open it unless they have a key or password & can't move it from one computer to another.

I do give them permissions to print, so that has to be an option.

The first program was very buggy & not user friendly. The second one I have to pay for per month & sometimes I have to generate the key twice in order for the customer to be able to open the file & for some reason I never get the keys.

So I thought, what if Open Source has something.

Does anyone know of anything that's really good & user friendly both for me & the customer?

Thanks & have a great day!

No, it's not as far as I know, or at least it wasn't in the last 2 versions. They only offer straight PDFs, not security software that wraps the PDF.

What they have is very crackable & only allows for certain security features, not enough security.

People can still pass the e-book along to others.

You can use iText (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) to set passwords, print and copy options etc. Its a Java class.

cheers

And it won't allow people to send it to other computers?

Not sure if it can do that or not.

Well in my original post that's what I stated I needed the software to do, otherwise the security is pointless.
