Does anyone know the search volume for each?
I get around 100 a day from being on page one for .co.uk for a single search term.
What sort of figured so you think I could expect for being page 1 for .com
Thanks.

US is like 50 times Bigger than Uk.
Maybe u would get about 5000. ( if the term is intersting to US residents also)

The population of the US isn't 50 times bigger though!!!!
You should have a lot more traffic from ranking higher on .com, although it is the US site I know a large amount of people in the UK for example use .com as well as .co.uk when searching

agreed it is 50 times that uk, but if u want to target uk market than us traffic wont help u to earn more.
it will eat your band width only.

I have this same issue, I've got a couple of page one rankings(position 7->9) for uk searches on the .co.uk site, but the best I get is 20 uniques/day for the exact phrases, a bit long tail, but quite a popular , according to yahoo tool
So, do UK residents largely use the .com site ?
My ranking on .com for the same uk based phrases is really lagging behind
I was really disapointed by this

That's interesting..I would also want to know if UK users used .co.uk or .com for Google.

In Australia I get forced to use google.com.au even if it type in google.com . I suspect it is the same for the uk (ip address detection).
The only way around it for me is to use google toolbar and choose search -> usa from the dropdown.

Yes you are correct, when I do a search here in the UK I automatically get UK results, even when using google.com.

Keyword analysis.
engine:co.uk
position:1st
results:172,000,000
engine:com
position:5th/6th
results:129,000,000
I get almost the same amount of clicks from both.
I am working on cracking the top3 in .com at the moment and if I remember to come back to this post I will update it.
