Hey Folks,
I am using Google analytic for tracking my visitors. I have a site with alexa ranking below 2000. But I found that Google analytic code is making the a little bit more time to load.
Can you guys tell me -
1) What’s the best tracking available tool (free/paid) available in the market?
2) Which is better? Browser based or server based tools?

AWstats and Webalizer are among the most popular, I run Webalizer for the speed since my log files are 16GB a day :/

AWStats (http://awstats.sourceforge.net/) will give you much more information than Webalizer. If properly installed, it will not slow down your site.
It is free software. No risc to try it!

Also check out Statcounter: http://www.statcounter.com
It's Javascript based like Google Analytics, but offers different features. It's pretty slick!

try http://www.statcounter.com/ it's FREEEE
you have to put a plain code on your page and you will have the opportunity to analyze and do something like a surveillance of your visitors.

The free version is lame. If you have any amount of decent traffic, you'll exceed your free database size limit in no time!

I use AWStats, StatCounter, and Google Analytics for free stats. Though I prefer to use Weblog Expert (the full paid version) for most things. :)

HiStats brings you statistics for every page or section of your web site. When you use its services you can perform a surveillance of a kind of each part/section of your website. That will give you a better idea of which content is most read/viewed and so on. This will give you a direction on how to develop your site and it will most probably give you an idea of what needs improving.

Google analytics is not working well for me.
It only shows 10% of the traffic, Uniques and visitors of just my traffic from social networking sites, let alone SE traffic.
awstats seems to be ok, but I would like something a little more definite, also.
