Well maybe its subscription expired , after all yahoo charges @ Per year rate to be included in their directory. So you should ask sellers of domain how many months are left on yahoo for their site.

If we buy a domain that's in Yahoo's directory with a paid listing, is there any way for us to renew the listing? Would we be able to find out from Yahoo when it's supposed to expire?

I think Yahoo claims you can get on their directory without paying, and that paying only expedites your listing. However, I have never seen it happen.
Enjoy all the benefits of Directory Submit.
* Get expedited consideration for the Yahoo! Directory.
* Save with a one-time, non-refundable processing fee of $299.
* Receive a timely response within 7 business days.
