Google iz my friend! (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=mozclient&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&q=define%3Arss) Then there's my buddy Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_%28file_format%29). :D

Here's an example. (http://www.news-rant.com/?feed=rss2)

The most basic way I can explain it is an XML file containing info from a site (like news from cnn for example). People then link to these files on their own sites using RSS readers and it displays the info contained in the file.

Basically a way of having constantly fresh info on your site, from other sites.

Oh, and it supposedly stands for really simple syndicate

Feel free to add to that explanation anyone, I am quite new to it myself
