Choose a niche, research it well and launch your website, add affiliate links.
If you know well about the particular niche, it will be much better

My advice would be to sift through this forum, and the other online forums relating to affiliate marketing and learn, learn, learn.
It can be a steep learning curve, but many of our affiliates are doing very well from it.
Good luck!

Hi tweener,
Welcome to the wonderful world of affiliate marketing. It is a great industry for making money IF you know what you are doing.
Before you jump in with both feet, waste a lot of money and get dizzy with information overload, download this free eBook (Affiliate Masters Course) and READ IT. Don't be fooled by the price (FREE). It is considered one of the "bibles" on affiliate marketing.
You can get a "clean copy" (without someone's affiliate links) at http://aff-masters.sitesell.com/.
After you finish that, download (free) "Make Your Content PREsell!" at http://mycps.sitesell.com/.
And, I have written an eBook which I offer for free called: "It's a Jungle Out There - Internet Survival Guide for Newbies". You can pick that one up at: http://www.TwoPercentClub.com/freeebook/Its_a_Jungle_Out_There.zip.
Reading and studying these three books will help set a strong foundation for your affiliate marketing career.
Best of luck as a new affiliate marketer!
Jim
