I have tried submitting my *non-commercial* site to Yahoo twice and it never got indexed. If you search it by its name, you will get sites that link to it but not the actual site. What sould I do? I'm getting really pissed off!

YOU can't do anything other than keep being patient, maybe resubmit, and encourage spidering of your site in the interim. Been there, done that, sold the t-shirt on Ebay.

Hi Caroline,

your site is not non commercial, you are running adverts on there, that is probably he reason for non acceptance IMO.

Are you trying to get in the Yahoo serps, or the Yahoo directory. Was a bit confused, in any case, since it is "non-commercial", I would consider submitting it to the Yahoo directory (after you remove the ads), and then finding some very good links from sites that rank well in Yahoo. You want your site to be found by Slurp. Do both of those things, and you should have a good chance of getting in.

Work on links then. Just make sure to keep Slurp treats handy when he decides to come around, and don't let him c**p on your lawn. Its hard to clean up. lol. Good luck Caroline! :D

Yahoo seems to take awhile. And, for me at least, seems to have different results then google, so its hard to optimize for both.... I focus all my efforts on google - the others will catch up sooner or later I figure.

it took about 3-4 months for Yahoo to find and index index my main page (it's only just indexed other pages) - i think it took about 1 month (until indexing) from when slurp first started hitting my robots.txt file. As said above i think the best thing you can do is get more links.
