Website with 0 google links but heaps of yahoo links

Hi All

One of my sites has 12,300 Yahoo links , about 10,000 altavista links but no Google or MSN links,
Is it a common occurrence ? How can I increase link popularity with google and MSN?

Google doesn't show all of the backlinks to your site with the link command. That's on purpose. Use Google webmaster tools for a more complete list. You can be sure that Google knows about all the links that Yahoo does, so you'll be fine just using that for your backlink count.

I'v got heaps and heaps of Yahoo backlinks, but i get most of my traffic from Google. I have 50,000+ yahoo backlinks but i only get about 1,000 uniqes a month from Yahoo, compared to 15,000 from google

Google updates backlink count every 2-4months depends on them, and yahoo shows them instantly ie whenever the bots find the links.
You can still checkout all the google backlinks via the google sitemaps option

There are no specific links for Google or Yahoo! or msn. Google has its own way of evaluating links and shows as back-links which qualifies.

are you sure? In my google webmaster tools I have several backlinks from the same domain. maybe they're discounted when calculating pagerank though...

It's strange you have 0 links from Google with so many from the others. Google is slow to show links and often with low PR doesn't show many. Also with Yahoo and MSN show many links which are the same Google are not.
