It might help if you shared some details and your experiences with this site, as well as any potential costs/fees. Are there any tight usage restrictions, etc?
I use Istock Photo (http://www.istockphoto.com/) a lot. Most photos run around $1 to $2 (US dollars) per use and they have great quality photography. They also have a lot of designers now offering web elements, illustrations, etc.

Ok, perhaps I neglected to include a important word here.
FREE STOCK PHOTOS!
My experience is good. They're probably not as good as istockphoto however the price speaks volumes of my language

I've used SXC for quite a while now and basically, it is a free stock photo website.
You must read the text below each image though, where the author has given information on the type of permission required (Sometimes you need written permission to use it commercially etc).
But over all, when its not running slow, its a fantastic site.

SXC rocks when the server isn't busy crashing....
Fair point. It has improved recently with the addition of a new server/s but I think that its grown so much since, that they really need to add about another 5 to get on top of things :)

Tell me about it...
It seems that how ever many more servers they add, there is always a backlog they need to catch up on...
It's such a shame, but it does work from time to time ;)

I definitely had problems trying to look at the SXC site over the last week. I'd rather just pay then wait around. heh
Here's another low cost stock site (about $1 per photo)...

The selection at dreamstime is just incredible. Once i started buying there I lost patience with sxc.hu.
Although, they are very fast and reliable ever since they installed their new system.

Well gang, they are not free, but for those of you looking for aviation, military, aerial and location photography you might consider my stock photo (http://www.aeronauticpictures.com) archive.
I have images available on a rights limited and royalty free basis to meet most business needs.
Bear with me and I'll have those old archive pages up in a new, searchable database shortly.

SXC is excellent, lots of the photographers will happily grant permission to use their pics, all you have to do is send them a quick email.
www.morguefile.com (http://www.morguefile.com) is also very good and usually doesn't even require specific permission from the photographer.

I have used SXC quite a bit in the past, but recently found

It has been pretty useful

The Blish stock photography (http://www.blish.com/Search/SearchResults.aspx?category=99%7cPhotography) section is growing daily. Still small in comparison to some of more popular sites but we're getting there:)

SXC is, I think, no longer free. Now it is about $1 per image (800 x 600 res). Still cheap as chips but as this thread is a great resource for photos, I thought I'd just update it.
Anypone else have any new FREE photo resources?

I think you're confused, e10, SXC is still very much free, and as far as I know it always will be. It's their (not so) new sister site stockxpert.com that charges $1 and up. Same company, different website. I believe what you saw was the "Premium results" at the bottom of a search results page.

Aha! You are right Sketch. Many thanks. I don't know how I tumbled on stockxpert but that is exactly what I did.

http://www.freerangestock.com -- all the images are 2400x1600 at least, and there are no photgraphers to email, and all images can be used commercially. And keyword searchable.
