Joomla multilingual search engine friendly?

Hi there,

need some tips to make my joomla page with 3-5 languages search engine friendly.

Whats the best method?

- different joomlas in directories /en /fr /es? (hard to administrate)

- using JoomFish! (adding ?lang= to the url, but Im not sure how to make this SEF). Maybe customized mod rewrite?

- any more options?
