It depends - if it's a free blog it's a pretty good start, but it isn't what would really be considered as high. High is thousands to someone like me, tens of thousands to most of the other people here on DP.

Personally, I don't consider that number for a high traffic site. I would say somewhere around 5k at least.

man that would be tough to get 5k but with hard work it can be :)

Not Hardly, but it's a good start. It also depends on what your site is about. If your site is about underwater basket weaving in Russia, chances are that you could have the top site and only have 500 uniques. If it's a more general site or about a more popular topic, then you should get more.
Just hang out around here and you'l learn ways to get your #'s up there.

High traffic is all relative.
2 years ago, when my site was brand new I was managing to get 1K uniques a month. At that time, I considered my traffic would be high if I could get it to 10K a month, but now, it gets over 100K uniques/mth and I consider this to be low - see how things change over time.
At the moment I consider 500K uniques a month to be high, but when I get there, I will no longer consider it to be high!

500 visitors per day would be considered pretty high for a new website.
However, it would definitely not be considered a high traffic site.
Look at Google and YouTube, these websites receive 10 million + visitors per day.

Hmm, depends on how high we each set the bar. I don't think 500 is that high.
You can get that on a site fairly easily, after a few months of work. Am still working on cracking the 1000 - then the 5000 lol.
Like the others said - it is also dependant on the niche, so will naturally be bringing in more traffic.

Just wondering how long have you been working to get 500 uniques? Are the traffic targetted?

My view on a high traffic site is this:
28,571,429 page views/month.
Now why 28,571,429 page views/month you ask? Simple:
AS records roughly 70% of actual page views due to javascript being disabled or AS ads being blocked so 70% of 28,571,429 page views/month results in 20000000.3 page views/month being recorded by AS which means you can be a premium publisher and that honor means you have a high traffic site.

500 visitors a day is not a high traffic site. I'd say at least 10.000 a day makes a reasonably high traffic site, but as people have said: google, yahoo and amazon really go far above that.
For me - I have 4000 visitors a day, and my target for the end of this year is 6000. That's decent traffic, but I'm sure there are sites in my niche that top that.

It's not a high traffic site.
500 is a good start though, keep at it and watch it go up up up. I'm currently at 8,000+ a day and growing fast but i still wouldn't consider that a high traffic site.
Good luck to you! :)

Its all about the niche, i would rather have a site about debt consolidation that gets 1000 targeted uniques a day than a site about online games that gets 20,000 targeted uniques a day. Some sites are easy to build traffic, generally these are the sites which don't have as much earning potential though.

You don't even need 500 visitors a day to make good money. I would put more emphasis on quality traffic that converts.

It depends on the niche the site is in.
For me this is the key ... it could very well be high traffic in your niche ... depends how popular your niche is.

i would say 10k-15k uniques a day is high traffic
500 is low to medium imo...depending on niche but...
500 would be low on a MSRS,

500 unique per day is a good start and lots of traffic for a personal site. But I think that 5000 is a lot. And 10 000 is more than a lot.
If you have 500 unique per day you will get descent adsense money. I am currently at 100 unique per day and I am getting a hit on adsense every day.

For the people getting 500+ uniques per day...is your site generating a good revenues and net profits? Over $100/day? Just curious. My goal is to reach $4k/month within 8-12 months, but it sounds like most people think that it will take many years to reach that level.

Earning $4k a month takes a lot of hard work and patience. Depending on your niche and/or quality targeted traffic it is possible... however I wouldn't count on it.... if you have some cash it can help speed up the process with PPC and outsourcing but IMO... if you don't have the $$$ then put your time to work for you and get writing some unique content. Good luck.

500UV's is kinda low for MFA type arbitrage sites. You need to get a helluva lot mre people to get there and click your adsense.

Just as a general question. How much do you spend on having a site get tens of thousands of visitors? I'm talking from a development to marketing monthly budget.

Completely depends on the website you want to deliver the traffic too, different markets, different websites require different marketing stratergies. Where I work we have clients with marketing budgets from £1k per month too £100,000 per month.

It depends on the site and how long it has been up. For a site that is only a couple months old yes that is good. If your site is over a year old and still getting that amount.......somethings wrong.

500 is a very good start, i have read a few post and some-one was talking about google well google have been around for ages plus with the money that google have they can do all kinds of marketing tricks not to say that they need to do any now.... just keep work at your site and the numbers will go up. every big site had to start some where like myspace google youtube. I have a few sites and i do the same marketing for them all but they all see different numbers in traffic, i think about 10k+ a day is high. but like others have said depends on what your site is about
