This means for creating a html directory

do not contact you anon!

Since you are good at PHPLD(joking there)

let me take a wild guess ..... 100k

but I think it would be less than 10,000

Is it correct?

I have seen a list with 6,500 but not all where there so a rough estimate would be around 10,000.

I have a question:

How many pointless threads can be created in one day?

According to experts, this is unknown as well.

well u asked me an estimate ... as no one can really tell how many ...

I think we have over 100k directories ... believe me or not we just don't notice...

several directories are just there in diff. languages which we never hear off...

i have a strong feeling its way way way more than 10k ... and i think its 100k ...

there can't be any argument because u can't hav a solid proof.

If you consider every domain with phpld script is a directory, than there are zillion of them(but than you can consider every1 wearing Nike is M.J.)

Imo there are no more than 1k, real directories that owners pay attention on.

you want a smartass answer? fine i'll give you one.

it has to do with it because now we have to count both php driven and html driven web directories as well as all other languages when trying to find all of the directories.

now get off my dillz.

Ok, then we also have WSN links, Site-Sift and many more.
In the end PHPLD will probably be 25% or less of the total market..

It's pointless to speculate on something that cannot be accurately counted.

I would spend my time worrying about things that are more important than invalid statistics or numbers that have no real value.

Think the question should be how many really count, and time/price vs benefit ratio. I mean it's like a gazillion fat chicks and a couple hotties, but I guess they need love too.

LOLOLOL so funny

I think http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php it's a good benchmark,
so i would risk to say around 300 directories are worthwhile counting paid and free.

How many directories are there is not predictable.
But how many PR4+ or how many PS 3+ directories are there would be more countable.

About directories Page Strength counts a lot more than PR to me, some1 should make a list of PS3+ directories (i'm too lazy for that :o )

Some one already has. ;)

I've seen that, though it's rarely updated and no submission feature :|
But still not bad. Better reference than most of others.

Since Dmoz itself has only 8 million listings only

how it could be 100,000,000 ?
