Since alive directory just became an authority website I was wondering if there's a list of authoritative directories out there?
Obviously
p://www.google.com/search?q=google+directory
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=dmoz
Would like to get a list going, or to be pointed to a list.
Also to become one you need search results to hit how many of your inner pages?
ie, I see if you Google a site and the first 2 results are of that same site and inner pages of that site you're en route. How many inner page results until they wrap you up into the authoritative?
Thanks.:D

If we consider top two links only then many such sites are there. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Global+Internet+Index&btnG=Search&meta=

Well I'm not sure of how far it is from the top 2 placements to an authority site. Was the alive directory showing 2 placements or 5 or at what number does Google wrap em up into an authority?
Anyway to see old Google results for alive? or any of the other authority ones?

Well no the top 2 links I think shows a site en route, it certainly does not count as authoritative. Trying to figure out Google results prior to going authoriative and think it obvious that it would start at top 2 links. Anyone have knowledge on this?

Am I misunderstanding what actually classifies a "Google Authority" here? or is everyone just posting their own links here?

That's what these threads always wind up being. a post fest for oneself.
here is how you can tell an authority.

Is this a definitive answer? Any site considered by Google will have these extra links. If it does not have the links Google does not consider it an authority site?
As I test sites that I would think would be authorities, this seems to hold true.

I wouldn't say that it's definitive, but I'm going to guess that in Google's eyes these sites have a large enough presence or importance that they decide to show the additional links as a benefit to their users.
I doubt that you'll find many sites with a mediocre presence listed in the search results with the additional links. Seems the number of sites that now have the additional links is increasing, and from a users perspective I like the additional links displayed.

Shame on me, I really can not say if this indicates alivedirectory is an authority site as a directory.
It could be one of the factors though.
Obviously, Google hasn't given aviva much authority?
About.com
ask.com
nfl.com
didn't have extra 5 urls when I googled them.

coolsitez you have the search the domain (without the tld) or related subject
check them like this:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=tr&q=about&lr=
http://www.google.com/search?num=30&hl=en&newwindow=1&q=ask
http://www.google.com/search?num=30&hl=en&newwindow=1&q=nfl

Google doesn't even have 5 urls ;)
But with google.com it shows them.
Google also shows those extra urls for certain sites whether you type the domain + tld or domain only.
Anyone knows why?
