I've been looking around the strong directories and haven't yet submitted to any of them. DD never seems to receive the exposure of others on DP yet it's PS 5.5 and predicted PR7. It's a very unique and DMOZ linked directory, but very expensive, with relatively few links. I'd be intersted to know why you have or haven't bought a link in DD.

I did buy there - http://www.directorydump.com/gii-link-533.html
and it used to be a PS6 like gii.in and its not costlier ;) because when you go shopping for quality things you always need to pay more ;)

I would say it is 'very expensive' but it is a premium directory. Lots of high pagerank category pages but you have to consider where this directory will be in 6 months time.
I'm sure the payment will be worthwile in the long run.

I'm not worried about this, but the page I'd have my link on is PR3 so I'm interested in how the strength of the directory will compensate for a very expensive link on a PR3 page.

It's a good deal at twice the price. Submit now before an0n reads this!

I lay low and prefer to let quality takes its course in due time, rather than shoutcasting it everywhere. I like to remain an underdog of sorts, and just let those who find me, check my statistics and make the choice without cohersion/solicitation from me. :)
I've been told a hundred times over to make a thread in solicitations, and I will soon, but in the meantime, I prefer to better the directory with extras, and have something in the works for everyone to use ;)

Well one way you can look at this is; how many people boast about submitting to a PR 5 directory, to only have you submit and find yourself on a PR0 page.
I've created the directory with almost a years worth of experimenting on how to pass the PR respectively. I had an experimental site passing pr 6 levels deep off the main domain, which is not really something you normally see.
but anywho, with dump (Indexed since Oct 28th, 2006) is definately taking the shape i intended it to take. I'm happy to see I am passing very good PR3's and PR4's down 4 levels deep: http://www.iwebtool.com/visual/frme.html?ex=1&nofw=1&domain=www.directorydump.com%2Finternet%2Fdirectories%2F
Then again, unlike other directories, you could always just view the listing of dump to check statistics, saving you time and effort.

But ultimately, the decision is yours, and if see you see benefit in listing, great. If not, it's definitely not a problem and I still wish you and all other well with your endeavors.

Wow, we seldom see that from a web directory owner.
I don't believe it hard sell either. But sometimes people need some hype to notice something.

There are many factors which makes it special apart from the DMOZ listing. I got a featured listing for my directory in this category

DirectoryDump is a very unique directory with a lot of first-show features and detailed touches. I believe listing in DD is indeed a good value for the long run.

Well I submitted our site just now for a featured listing, have been meaning to for a while. You can tell a good directory when you see one, You can also tell if the owner really cares about it. Thumbs Up an0n.

Well said. I think sometimes it's a little silly of those who try to advertise over and over again when others already know your directory. It gets pretty annoying IMO. I think trial to get a recognition should be done moderately. The advertising is always important for any business, but if its excess, its like spam.

Without question directorydump is a very powerful directory, I got my listing http://www.directorydump.com/index-it-link-543.html a few weeks back and google picked up the link rather quickly. This is a good sign because it tells me that google visits this directory on a regular basis and therefore you will most likely get your site indexed very quickly.
An0n, I like the features by the way, great job.

I dont see any link from wikipedia.
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=linkdomain%3Agii.in+site:wikipedia.org
Where are the links now. It is still a PS6.5.
The PS increase of GII was mainly due to increase in backlinks. According to yahoo it shows close to 150 thousands. Also other factors which effected were "Number of links according to Technorati" and " Number of search results for URL search at del.icio.us" and " Links from domains with .edu TLDs:"

Yeah Google spidered my link pretty quickly, An0n what PR do you reckon your dp profile will get at the next update, I reckon you will be on for a 5, who has got the highest PR'd profile page at the minute?

hahaha... i nofollowed it last week. It's already a PR3
I'm glad to see everyone is satisfied with what they have paid for. Be 150% reassured I profit nothing from the directory (atm), as everything and then some out of my own pockets are still in holding for stronger links.
