Thanks to all the blog spammers out there, I now have a horrible situation. I am getting thousands of trackback spams on my blogs even though I have trackbacks disabled. Evil spammers just do it anyway and I just spent three hours deleting thousands of trackbacks. Oh and guess what? Thanks to these trackbacks about porn on my blog posts, google ads are showing PSAs or they are showing pharmaceutical ads.

If any of you blog spammers visit this board, I put a curse upon you. I hope you work hard on a labor of love and then have a bunch of pimply nosepickers come along and muck it up with pointless spam.

Does your mother know how evil you are? A pox on ye!

Now I've fixed the problem and nobody can ever vomit trackbacks all over my site every again. Please folks, if you need links don't trash other people's sites to get them.

I completely concur!

Maybe we can create a list of those who do this evil thing and have some automated method of "returning the favor"??? ;)

You like my post title? :p

I wish we could "return the favor." I just had to delete the trackback cgi from my movable type database because the spammers were somehow getting them through even though I had trackbacks turned off.

Now I'm ranking in google for all kinds of porn phrases because of the trackbacks.

What I do is turn on capchas to authenticate comment posters.

That and ocassionaly mailbomb their website's "contact us" address.

An eye for an eye.

Sounds like a great start!

Any other ideas and suggestions for taking it to the spammers?

It isnt the spammer you want to hurt, hurt their customers instead.

I had the same problem, had to rename the blog so that they couldn't find it, and I've now got 17 000 (since Aug 14) file not found errors because they keep coming even though there is no file there. Of course I was partly at fault - I run a cancer site and had two folders for blogs child-patients and adult-patients. The word adult must have got them excited :)

Switch to a blog that has Bayesian filter on comments and trackbacks. Plog's the only one I know of-- plus TuFAT.com's osBlog which will come out in like one month.

I can't because Google disabled the ads on the pages when I had perfectly targeted ads before they did this.

I killed the spam with a great Movable Type plugin a while back and it works great. No more blog spam. The trackbacks took me by surprise.
