In the UK one of the biggest affiliate programs of recent times was for online fashion retailer ASOS.com. They closed their affiliate program a year or so ago (changes in the boardroom was the reason I think) but this week in leading trade journal, New Media Age they were quoted as saying....
"Next year we’ll reintroduce affiliate marketing but as it should be, as opposed to affiliates as they were” said Nick Robertson, ASOS CEO. “(There’ll be) no silly commissions being paid to grubby little people in grubby studios growing income at our expense, getting in the way of genuine sales"
This quote has really gone down like a ton of bricks in the UK. Some may say that we (affiliates) helped build his business and make it the success it is. So to be dumped on like this is just disgraceful.
