I swear Google gives higher relevance to blogs. I have a friend who launched a blog. Her blog (wordpress) is PR0 and like one or two non PR links, and has only been up 2-3 months. Google ranks her on the second page for a certain set of search terms, above sites that I know are well marketed.

They do like blogs, yes. I think it's partly because they are updated regularly and always have loads of new and unique content for Googlebot to munch through.

Google give priority to fresh and unique content. It is not new. :)

Yeah, a friend of mine works for a company who added a blog to their website, and within a couple of months they were top ten for all their top keywords. Great source of incoming links if you've got some good content on there.

i agree you forsh

they do give prefrence to blogs but if your topic and content is unique you have more chances to be watched...

regular updates is another way to get yourself noticed fast.

Google loves blogs, I have a site with wordpress and it's only a few months old and it's a PR 4 and ranking on the first page of google for pretty broad keywords.

The more content, the better. If you update your blog on a regular basis and have incoming links to it, especially individual posts, you establish trust with Google. Once Google trusts your domain, you can rank for every blogpost. There are so many factors wich are an advantage for bloggers, the pinging of blog directories, the active blogrolling, how easy it is to add new content. Google likes information, unique info, and you can find that on blogs and forums.

Anything viral like a blog or StumbleUpon.com or Tribe.net is going to have the SE's loving all over them. Content 2.0 is king! ;)

how often should the blogs get updated to reach these results?

Well, when I began I started by updating my main blog with one post per day - after 3 months I'd achieved PR4 and several hundreds of backlinks with little effort - however, some of my other blogs have jumped to PR4 in 3 months with only one or two posts per week. I always try and build an internal link framework too - this helps not only with navigation, but also with SEO/SERPs etc.

how often should the blogs get updated to reach these results?

blogging is my full time job. I can get a blog to the first page of google of most keywords in months or shorter.

Why are they not indexing their own Blogger then?

Why are they not indexing their own Blogger then?

They do. Any blogger blog that I have started was receiving traffic from Google the next day. One of my best blogs has become trusted enough that now Google indexes and sends traffic to new posts within an hour!

The most important thing for GOOGLE is fresh and uniques content,,,
Content is the King ...and thats it...Daily updated blogs have fresh content and get well ranking too...

but i have seen blogs without a single content ranking on the 1st page of MSN...how come so ? just try the search for "bad credit mortgage refinance" in MSN and you can see this blog " badcreditrefinance0.blogspot.com " on the first page without any content in it. and one more on making thi keyword search "bad credit debt consolidation loan" u get this blog under highest 15 ranking in MSN "bad-credit-loan-all.blogspot.com" ....check it out....

Its shocking ....

Maybe the blog has quality backlinks. Google gives more importance to quality links.

Blogs is one of the most reliable link partners you can find, especially your own blog. It also gives traffic to your site. :)
