$30 contest - logo for poker business (EscapeTheRake.com)

Hello again,

On top of the band logo contests I'm running, I need a logo for my new business - EscapeTheRake.com

Escape The Rake will be a poker rakeback website (basically, customers sign up to online poker rooms through our affiliate links and they get a % of the money they pay to these poker rooms back, normally about 30%.)

We are looking for a professional, modern design with possibly a subtle reference to poker (and no rakes, please). We're pretty open when it comes to a colour scheme, as the site is not designed yet.

Constant feedback will be given throughout the contest, and the winner will be paid $30 by paypal. Off you go!

edit: Sorry, I forgot about our tagline! It's "Play More, Pay Less"

Thanks for the entries Tropica. They're not really what we're looking for - we're after a slightly more web 2.0 feel. Also, I'd like the logo to be more compact.

Cheers Mendes, I like the colour scheme and basic idea, but escapetherake.com needs to be the centrepoint, with play more, pay less smaller and underneath. Not sure about the escapetherake.com font you used, perhaps if you use the tagline text you had, but make it escapetherake.com instead. Mess around with it along those lines, and we might be getting somewhere :)

Tropica, it's not really about size, it's more about not having too much space between logo/tagline/image. This goes for everyone - we are looking for quite a compact design that is more like a logo, and less like a banner.

See my previous feedback, what I would recommend is:

Lose the entire right hand side of the design
Make EscapeTheRake.com the main text, using the red and blue text you have there
Make play more pay less a lot smaller and underneath escapetherake.com

It's not a banner we're looking for, its a logo, so yes - remove the right hand side.
Make EscapeTheRake.com slightly bigger, and use the same font as you had for play more pay less before
Make the play more, pay less text a lot simpler, a bit smaller, and capitalise the first letter of every word
Move the text closer to the image
Can you include the whole image? It looks like half of the last ace has been cut off

Looks good but I don't think he wanted an exact replica of the other site's logo - they probably wouldn't be too happy about it either.

Who's to say what he wants you? Its not an exact replica only the the color design and layout where similar. I used different fonts, pic, and I used drop shadows. Heres another variation if you dont want it looking that similar.

FOR EVERYONE - after seeing a few designs, we have decided we would like a poker chip with the letters ETR on it to feature as the image in the logo, and we would also like this image available seperately.

Nitro - I don't really like the image, and how it overlaps the font making it hard to read, and the font looks a bit basic. I like the positioning of everything though.

ottopottomouse - try and avoid green. I know we didn't set any colour targets and I do like green, it's just hard to pull off on an entire site. If you could try and make the poker chip i mentioned instead of the cards that'd be good.

Tropica - don't like the green background, or that chip, or the text actually. try again? :)

James '78 - your first attempt was Raketherake and whilst we showed their logo for reference it was more to do with size and compactness rather than please attempt to copy this. New effort is pretty good, but try and change the cards to the poker chip design

DennizZ - take "the" out of italics and please use our actual tagline. If you can put a stylized ETR on your poker chip and play with the colours. It's not that those colours are bad, the suits/tagline just don't stand out enough. You could make the tagline slightly bigger too.

DaveyBoy - first kinda original logo - I like it Again, if you could change the ace at the start to be a poker chip with ETR on it. And again, green is hard to pull off on a whole site so change the background colour. The pink and purple aren't bad, despite it being a threat to my masculinity, but could you experiment with a few different colours? Looking on track though.

Saves the day - I'm a big fan of this one, but please use our actual tag line. If you could change the graphic to a poker chip with ETR on it using similar colours we're onto something here.

Could you make the ETR on the chip a lot brighter and clearer? In fact the logo as a whole could be brighter, it looks a bit dull. Looks quite nice though.
