hi,
i am looking for a php/my sql script for posting articles in my website. it should generate search engine friendly URLs with customizable title and meta tags. it should also be easily integrated to my existing static site.and most importantly, it must be opensource . i know such a script exists, but just cant find it. i searched all over hotscripts but invain. can u guys suggest one?

WordPress, which is blogging software will do that. It's simple, time sensitive articles within categories. A blog is just a cut down version of other content systems with a few niche features. You may find it's what you need.

But if you think I'd like articles today but in the long run I'd like to add a), b) and c) then you may need a bigger system. Take a look through Open Source CMS (http://www.opensourcecms.com).

You can also take a look at Article Stream (in my sig)...It will depend on what type of CMS you are looking for and what level of complexity.

Hey does anyone know of any good assigned open source .php script or blog type CMS where I can assign users to write articles on thier own page in the middle of my existing website with my header footer etc?
