View Full Version : Instant earning increase

Hello everyone.
One of my sites is a link directory,I had mentioned it on DP for mostly getting PSA's and seldom relevant ads. It gets approx.2000-2500 unique hits/day, but as a result of the relevancy issue, never earns more than $1 a day. But yesterday night, I made a small change and surprisingly my earnings for today is $13 and still increasing. This is what I did:

The "real estate" category in this site is one of the mostly visited categories. Thinking that people interested in buying homes would also be interested in mortgages, I wrote an article about it(focusing on the niche keywords)+inserted adsense code and added this as a new static page to the site, placed a link to it on the dir homepage. Nothing more.

$13 a day may not be a serious amount for many people, but it means X13 times daily increase in earnings for my site. The page content is not rich(it was only one simple article), but it contains absolutely nothing against the TOS. Even so, I feel irritated for the risk of Google canceling my account after this instant increase. I couldn't even feel happy about it:(

Anyone experienced such instant increase? Does G consider this kind of events somehow "suspicious"? I'll be glad to hear your ideas, because I'm feeling rather uneasy.(Again, the site is squeaky clean, no cheat at all)

Thanks.

guess you should write more articles, take your site in that direction. Just research them well and write them (don't just copy) and you will be onto a winner.

AdSense and users alike LOVE good content :)

Agreed. And I've had sudden surges as well - one from putting in an image strip.

Sounds like you found something that works.... See how else you can catpitalize it on your site and make that traffic pay.

Congratulations on that. You should feel more secure that you are now earning. Your chances of cancellation are less now than when you were earning a buck a day.

Thank you all for the replies and positive feedback, I feel glad and releived after reading such motivating posts:) My only advantage is having traffic to that site of mine(unlike the one on my sig.), which I wasn't able to convert into income.

You're right Critters, it's now 04.00 AM here, and I've just finished my second article:)

Well, it's been a week since then and I had really great time with adsense:)
These are the results(Introducing "The rise and fall"):

Friday, August 26, $31.41
Saturday, August 27, $36.01
Sunday, August 28, $44.05
Monday, August 29, $76.64
Tuesday, August 30, $35.22
Wednesday, August 31, $28.67
Thursday, September 1, $24.38

I couldn't keep the rising trend for long and don't know which point this fall will stop at. Referring to the high page impressions and CTR, I think the visitors were interested in the content, tried to get deeper by clicking the ads, but couldn't find something really useful..As the visitors interested in the topic finish exploring both the content and the ads, the decrease will continue. I don't know if adding more content may help, but I'll keep trying.

At least, now I know how to get my lazy visitors interested in the ads;)

It's common to see that type of drop off throughout the week. You will notice a trend after the next couple weeks.

Congrats to you and id say you have nothing to worry about, although a good increase its not over the top or anything like from $1 to suddenly hundreds a day so its perfectly normal, its excellent that this has worked for you.

I wish you continued success and increases in earnings.

Edit: Damn ive just checked the date on this thread, i should have noticed that before replying, sorry about that.:o

sometimes we have to do some experiments on placement of adsense. when we have a good results, then stay with that.

gr8, mind sharing the little tweak?? hehehe.

Dont get nervous, even if it does get ban, u can write a mail to them, on further investigation, u'll get the account back, god forbid if it happens.

And experiment too much.
