I heard yes from some and others from no.
Basically the question is, if by using analytics on your site can it hurt your serps rankings?
Thanks

I have a site that is using analytics and that is #1 for its keyword on Google, MSN and Yahoo.
I also have another site that doesn't uses analytics and it is also #1 on Google, MSN and Yahoo for its own keyword.

No influence on SERP either you use or not......it is just a way to how know about your site traffic and content performance etc...

What could POSSIBLY be a reason for them to penalize someone for doing this? "He is using our system resources, we have to ban him from our SERPs!!!!1111"

I'm sure that analytics like everything else google provides takes a look at the data and may use it when creating search stats... just like the google toolbar. It likely doesn't have too much of an effect however.

analytics do not affect your rankings directly, but they can be effective indirectly.there are lot of info available from analytics which you can use to optimize your site for the best for your traffic, find out which keyword is the key player,etc... which will in turn affect your SERPS
first i was a noob on that.i didn't understand the purpose of many functions, but now am using it well.am even reading a book(hard copy not an ebook) about analytics to know it well....well i love it.

i was thinking about this the other day. I think the only way it would hurt you is if you have one site in your account that's like "for kids" and another xxx site. They could see that as a bad relationship like they look at your server to see what else you host.

it's an intresting idea that analitics will hurt your serp ranking. it's a tool to count your visitors . it will not break your serp ranking or it will not effect your page rank

I was half way joking. I had a site using adwords and it gained a pr3 and got a little se traffic. I stopped using adwords and it fastly dwindled down to a pr0 and very very little traffic. :)

If you have nothing to hide it shouldn't hurt you. If 90% of your traffic exits within 3 seconds the site looks mighty fishy. Google is beginning to use visitor stats to rank sites. Slowly but surely this will be developed. Black hat guys will be hit hard I believe but those with quality sites will watch their sites rise.
All that quality content will pay off.
