View Full Version : 2 sites...Red or Blue?

Solicitors Mortgages

I have just finished 2 directories
UK business directory (http://www.uk500.com)
and
Local business directory (http://www.uk500.co.uk)

I have seen it mentioned that blue is a good colour for business sites, and I prefer the blue one. I am tempted to use it for both domains, but (after a few reviews that said the red one was better) I can't decide.. your thoughts are appreciated regarding the designs.

Possibly I could just keep both as they are

.. and if there are any glaring errors please mention them :)

Thanks for your 2cents..
James.

I like the blue. It looks more sleek and professional.

I like the blue, too, but I would change the color of the tabs up on the right to the same neutral color as the tabs in the red site.

I prefer the blue site (blue is a safe color to go with, apparently red represents 'stop' psychologically.. ).

The dark red is OK ... but the brighter red text and small print is difficult to read ... especially late at night. :)

I guess that means I prefer the blue ;)

By the way, tried the submit form ...

Blue is definitely regarded as the most professional color,
but i have seen lots of good sites in red as well, but it requires lots of expertise in color combination

I prefer blue to red, so there is no prize for guessing what I am going to recommend out of the two :D

I like red, but for practical purposes, as it's more readable, have to 'vote' for the blue!

i prefer the blue, i suppose its a more lighter color and looks more profressional for sure, why not stick a poll onto the thread?

Both colors are very "businessy", and while I tend to be more attracted to Blue as well, there is something to be said for going with a color that isn't used nearly as often. Blue is used everywhere because it is "safe", but it definitely isn't unique either. Red on the other hand, when used correctly, is a gem to find on the net. This green forum catches the attention because it isn't just blue like 99% of other forums. So, stick with the blue if you want instant functionality, or go with red if you want to mix things up a little. I thought the red looked great myself.

WOW, thanks for the replies. I would have posted a poll if I had thought I would get any replies :)

Blue (http://www.uk500.co.uk) definately seems to get the vote although the red one (http://www.uk500.com) doesn't seem particularly hard to read (well not to me) I wonder whether it has something to do with the white background at the top of the red site?

As much as I too prefer the blue, I will set up a test on a different domain and set about tweaking the red one, it definately has something about it that makes it different.

At least no-one posted "they both look crap" :)

LOL
James.

the blue color implies the intention to achieve a lot. Blue is the color of the sky, right.
the red one is not so serious looking to me. For example - The red light district in Holland is regarded as an area where you people drink a lot and the concentration of hookers is unbelievable. It isn't called the blue light district, right?

So, please, choose the BLUE color.

face the facts, blue is better.

The blue is better as everyone has already said. One reason I don't like the red template is because of the red links... It's a horrible red so I would consider either changing to another color (such as grey maybe?? I'm not sure as I suck as chosing colors) or darkening the color of the red. :)

In the great tradition of "ongoing work" I changed the main links to black (well dark grey)

Business directory (http://www.uk500.com) (with black links)

Absolutely blue, easy on the eyes and made me want to actually read the text instead of quickly scan and leave.

colors have language. red is better for food sites. remember the logo of mc donalds. and blue means professional and authoritative. blue is better i think.

Colours do have language really and I fully support addlinkurl.:)

The blue one looks much better and conveys more appropriate meaning in the case.:)
